Early in the year of
1928, Sister Anna L. Knox, formerly of Colorado, thought it proper to establish
a Chapter for the Order of the Eastern Star in the town of Fairmount Heights,
Maryland. She was the wife of a Master Mason who was instrumental in
establishing Fairmount Lodge No. 92. Being a charitable organization the
purpose was to have a sister Chapter to Fairmount Lodge No. 92 and to engage in
unified service to God and man, standing as a beacon light, being ready to
serve our community in religious, civic and charitable activities. After calling together several ladies
who were wives, mothers, widows, daughters and sisters of Master Masons, Sister
Knox named the Chapter, Columbine. She chose this name for the state flower of Colorado because of
its beautiful shade of blue and its distinctive pedals. Under the leadership of Myra Grand
Chapter, O.E.S., P.H.A., in Baltimore, Maryland, they met for one year awaiting
a Charter. Grand Officers presiding at
that time were: Marietta Stewart, GWM Charles W.
Simms, GWP Nellie Paul, GAM B. Wesley Davage, GAP On August 4, 1928,
Columbine Chapter No. 46 organized with a membership of seventeen (17). The Charter members were working from
