Suga, suga, how you get so fly???
For my Nappiversary, I decided to go wild with color and bleached my hair. I saw a picture of Free from 106&Park and thought, dang, that looks goooood! Then, I got over it. And now my hair is coffee brown. Who knows what it will look like from day to day. I never would have been so adventurous with my relaxed hair!
On Hair Coloring
So, there seems to be this debate among nappies about whether colored hair is natural or not. I say, if you want to play the semantics game, go ahead without me. I don't care what anyone wants to call my hair. It is what it is. Nappy. Colored. Free.
I'm having so much fun experimenting with all the pretty colors! And my hair is still on my head! I do see a difference in hair coloring and hair relaxing though. I don't run to the hair stylist every 6 weeks to hide my roots. See the diff?
September 2003
October 2003
I bleached for the first time in September. I used the Dark N Lovely box with the blonde lady on the front. This first attempt only lifted my hair about 1 level. My hair is very, very dark to begin with. The second pic was taken about 3 weeks later after my second bleaching. It's hard to see in that pic cuz I'm in the shade. I did a big no-no and used a different product (Feria, I think) but my hair still came out ok.
So, here's the 3rd bleaching attempt. I must not have applied it very well because it came out very splotchy. But that's ok, I can live with it. I like the new, bold color. I've never tried something so brazen before. Watch out now!
November 2003
These pics show more of my bleached out color. My fave style this month has been a free-form fro, parted down the middle, and pushed back. I use click-clacks to hold the hair back and sometimes add a headband.
But now, it's all different for December. Can't wait for you to check it out!
