HOWARD WITHOUT ROBIN VOL. 1-4 Back in April of 1986, Robin Quivers, who barely misses a show, was out sick for 2 days and Howard had to run the show solo. Using all of his radio talents and sidemen available, he was able to pull it together, but it wasn't the usual show. Now that Robin was gone, the boys could do whatever that wanted, and so for 2 days there was everything from Penis Ping Pong to finding the perfect African man on the street to do the news. This show is the Christmas party from 1981.You hear Howard as he used to be! There is Born Again Stern, God with the Weather, Burpman, and lots of other good stuff! Howard at his best! LETTERMAN SHOW There are 7 different appearances on Late Night With David Letterman from 1984 to 1992. CLASSIC STERN CD 2 APRIL FOOLS SHOW 1982 Howard's last tune-up before the big time in New York was DC-101 in Washington, DC. This show is the April Fool's show from 1982. He went on the air as "The Big Gipper" and stayed in the character for most of the show. The Big Gipper was supposed to be a lame out-of-touch DJ from the 70's. He has some "guests" on the show and refuses to do Howard's usual bits. He takes calls from people who actually think there was a format change. Also, classic call to Alison concerning her pregnancy of their first child. GOODBYE TO D.C. (WAVA SHOW) Before New York, Howard worked at DC-101 in Washington, DC. After he was fired there in 1982, and before going to New York, he had one show on WAVA in July to say goodbye to his fans. Probably the first Best ofwith Howard were "The Think Tank" which were Steve Chaconas, Harry Cole, and "Earth Dog" Fred as he was known then (a very weird side of Fred). Stories about signing with NBC. Robin left the group at the time, and was doing news in Baltimore. This show is a riot and has some of his old bits and he takes callsand even plays stuff off his soon-to-be-released album Fifty Ways To Rank Your Mother. (also available on CD) FOX TV PILOT In 1987, Howard Stern was hired by the Fox network to create a talk show. The show was going to be the replacement for the Joan Rivers Show, which was receiving poor ratings. Unfortunately for Howard, creative control of the show was taken out of his hands and instead given to a group of writer Fox hired. The show was never picked up by Fox. The pilot episode featured Joe Piscopo, Man & Dad, and a bit about washed-up actors featuring Al Lewis and Mason Reese |
