Friends through School Clubs

I wanted to join a club today
So I signed my friend up too.
This commitment took a lot of time
And even some derring-do
I had previous expectations:
Thinking fundraising a chore,
But making money by selling things,
Was not my assumed bete noire.
Helping the community opened my eyes
To see how those in a club are wise.
I also saw that humans need guild support
And friends with whom they can build rapport.
Despite our little disparities,
We hit on our similarities,
And the lasting friendships that we made
Through the precious time we paid
To the present ever since fall,
Is most important of all.

A lot of the friendships I had at Roosevelt (and still have now!) were cultivated through the various club activities that I participated in.  I find this true at UH also, though I now participate in only one club, Intervarsity Christian Fellowship.  I am planning to join the UH chess club also though and attend my first meeting tonight..
