I was disappointed with Jody Teruya’s May 5 letter, "There’s nothing wrong with prostitution."
Prostitution promotes sexual activity outside of marriage. Any sexual activity outside of marriage is sinful.
When law promotes wrongful activity, increased problems and trouble result. Such is the case in San Francisco, where laws made to promote the gay lifestyle resulted in a venereal disease rate more than 20 times the national average, a doubling in the spread of hepatitis A, a tripling of the incidence of hepatitis B and a 25-times increase in amoebic colon infections.
If you want to legalize prostitution, go ahead, but the terribly negative consequences of doing so will also come, such as more infidelity, broken marriages, more sexually transmitted disease.
