My Favorite Player

My favorite player, hands down, has got to be Jennifer Azzi. Yes that is an autograph that I got during the Lasers Open Practice! Pretty cool huh? This is the first time I scanned this picture and I accidentally shaved off a bit of Jennifer Azzi's head. I'm sure she'll forgive me. The other picture is one with Trisha Stafford guarding Azzi during practice. For you Golden Bear fans out there, don't worry, there will be more pictures of Trisha added later on!

Even though she didn't get to see much playing time in the Olympics, she played her heart out when she was on the court. She exudes class and confidence. Two things I like to see in a player. Now as the Lasers' premiere player, Jennifer Azzi has the opportunity to show her fans her true talents.

The reason I am not familiar with Cal players is because, simply put, we sucked! And in high school, Jennifer Azzi and Stanford were the shit! I mean my friends and I could ever get into a Stanford game because they were always sold out! Plus in 1990, Stanford won the Final Four.

Unfortunately that was Azzi's last year and we never did hear much about her afterwards. She was and still is my favorite player. After she left I didn't get really excited about college basketball which is why I don't know many of the young players. Well, I did get excited when Sheryl Swoopes took her team to the NCAA championships though. But that was the last time I got excited about women's basketball.

But with the return of Azzi and the ABL, a new kind of hoop madness is emerging! Yes, women's sports is brought to a new level! No more tight spandex uniforms. No more explotiation of women's bodies! In fact, I think ABL players will make most men and women jealous! If you haven't noticed, the players are cut and buffed!

Put me on that training regimen baby!

The picture above is of Azzi going up for a very difficult lay-up. The reason you don't see anyone in the picture because they have been knocked down by Azzi in attempting to block her. She made the shot, of course. Sorry the shot is so grainy, but as my brother says, I didn't have enough flash since the shutter speed was operating too fast.

You are the Lasers fan to visit this page!
