Only the 580 here will truly know just how much of a fight the South Walian
pros had to put up in order to leave Park Avenue with the spoils. For all
their pre match cockiness, the Dragons were outplayed in a scrappy first
half which saw three players booked and Cohen Griffith lucky to remain on the
pitch after two nasty fouls. Aber struck on nine minutes through a twenty
yarder that Gavin Allen drove past Ovendale, leaving the keeper stranded.
Further chances followed, with Glyndwr Hughes looking particularly threatening
with his manic heading. Harrison played throughout like the god he is, and
Aizlewood and Morris looked strong at the back.
After the break, it only took Barry ten minutes level and they were soon well
on their way tio victory, pouncing on any Aber errors and limiting the Seasiders
' options with some excellent marking and tackling. Radio Wales said Barry
had been biding their time, Wales on Sunday said Aber ran out of steam.
The truth is somewhere in between, but the journey home wasn't much fun.
