Stuff You Can Use - And Make Yourself!
The 4 in 1 Tying Tool!
A 4-in-1 tying tool - A dubbing brush, hook sharpener, bodkin and material
brush. Find a flat-sided old toothbrush around the house. Drill a small hole in
the handle end and insert a sturdy small darning needle. Glue with epoxy. Now,
rubber cement fine and coarse emory paper to either side of the handle: these
are your hook sharpeners. Finally, rubber-cement the hook side of velcro to the
back of the toothbrush head as your dubbing teaser. The toothbrush itself
makes a fine material brush. It may look odd but it works. G.M.
Fly Float
Instead of buying packages or bottles of fly float try this. Use Rain-X or
Scotch Guard or you can also use silicone. If you use this on the thread as
you tye the fly it will floats like a cork for a much longer duration. Don't
spray silicone or Scotch Guard directly on the fly, spray or pour into a bottle
and cap you don't lose or use as much of the solvent. Ok so I'm cheap.
