As a current college grad and an eager to learn heads up driver, Michael is not a newcomer to the racing world. Mike is the third generation Kolka Race Team at Orange County Speedway. The Kolka Racing team began with Richie Kolka, Mike's great uncle. Richie then got his son Kevin Kolka into racing for the second generation. Racing has been in Mike's blood since birth. Michael began racing go-karts at the age of eleven. In the go-karting world Mike Kolka is no stranger. He has won between 125 and 150 features and held first place in 5 championships over a 5 year period. Mike and his father decided that it was time to expand Mike's racing capabilities and take the next stepping stone, stock cars.
Mike is a no fear guy and when it comes down to racing he is not going to back down to anyone. He hopes to accomplish stats like his favorite OCFS driver Brett Hearn. Future goals do not stop at stock cars. Mike has always had his eyes on the big league. He hopes to eventually move into the Busch Series and when the time is right, the Nascar Series.
The Kolka Racing Team currently has sponsors such as Fredricks Paving and Excavating, Mills Glass, Stonehenge Farms, A Cut Above Landscaping and many more. Most of these sponsors were acquired by the most influential person in Mike's life, his father.
Mike
is one of three children. He has two sisters, Bridget and Liz.
His oldest sister, Bridget, is married and lives in Middletown. His
other sister, Liz is engaged to be married and currently lives in Virginia
Beach, Virginia. His sisters are his two best fans!!! Mike's
mother and father, Mike and Betty, are his biggest sponsors. Mike
and his dad can usually be found in the garage working on their race car
at any spare minute. If by chance they are not in the garage they
are off somewhere strategizing. Next weeks race or even next season
is never off their minds.
