Photos from the Colorado Rainbow

I was gonna try to write a poem for these Rainbow Gathering photographs...
And then I thought "I am hardly the one to write such a poem...
I have so many pieces missing from my life: my children taken away at such a young age,
My wife so distraught all these years since it happened,
So much so, that people rarely understand her,
And here we are growing old now, in a trailer park of all places!
Far from the wilderness communes of yesterday,
Far from the old campfires and the songs...
And with a heart that so often wonders what is missing and why is it missing?
How could such an incomplete person as me write
A Rainbow poem for these sisters and brothers?"
And then in a flash it came to me.
That each of us is incomplete -- in our own ways.
None of us perfect...
But when we come together we find our completion in each other.
And that is what the Rainbow is and always has been.
The miracle in the sky
That is in our hearts.
