"Naturism is a way of life in harmony with nature characterized by the practice of communal nudity, with the intention of encourging self-respect, respect for others and for the environment." International Naturist Federation, 1974
Naturism is a way of life in which people simply opt for a clothes free environment when it is practical to do so. This means that we wear clothes for protection rather than adornment.
There are more than 250 naturist clubs, resorts and organizations within North America and many more worldwide. These vary from small social groups to large full service resorts. There are even luxuary cruises on major cruise ships that are always quickly sold out. Naturism is even more popular in Europe. There are countless locations in Europe to practice naturism from simple areas in city parks to massive resorts where families spend their vacation. The largest naturist facility in the world is CAP D'ADGE in France. This naturist city hosts 30,000 people at a time with every thing from banking to groceries to resturants all completely nude. Sort of like a nude Walt Disney World without the rides and attractions!
Naturists represent a true cross section of society, much as you would find at your local McDonalds or Wal Mart. We simply maintain a more open view of life and a higher respect for each other.
The Following is intended to answer many of the most common questions and misconseptions about the naturist lifestyle as they relate to Colorado Naturist Families!
What special preparations should I make before attending a club function? Generally, none at all, other than to relax and be prepared to have a good time. Remenber everyone you are going to meet had a first experience. Go ahead ask someone about their "first experience", it's a great icebreaker and some of the stories are quite funny!
We Have Kids! Are they likely to be shocked by their first encounter with naturists? GREAT! BRING THEM ALONG... Kids are natural naturists and quickly accept the lifestyle. How often have you seen your kids running around the house nude or sharing a bath? Were they concerned about their nudity there? Of course not!! Children accept other naturists as just another person, nudity is not an issue.
Kids thrive in the naturist environment. In fact they are usually the first ones out of their clothes and it is sometimes difficult to get them to dress to go home. A naturist child can go about play without worrying about "Don't Get Your Clothes Dirty". When a naturist child get in the dirt, a quick trip to the shower is all that's required.
Studies have shown that children raised in a naturist environment are usually much better prepared for the pressures and changes of the teen years to come. Naturist children have a healthy understanding of the human body and the functions it performs. They understand and are prepared for the changes that will come.
And what about those teens? Teens are always welcome and encourged to attend club functions. Just because interests and bodies are changing doesn't mean that are different, ugly or unwelcome.
Kids and teens are encourged to bring friends to the club, (parental permission forms are available from the club).
Kids just enjoy being kids. Nudity does not worry them.
