DUTIES:  Purchasing Agent in the System Administration Procurement Service Center located at the Fitzsimons campus.  Procure goods and services for all university campuses; make procurement decisions by determining most appropriate method of acquiring goods and services; clarifying requirements, investigating sources of supply, interpreting and analyzing data and circumstances; determining low responsive and responsible bid by interpreting and analyzing bid responses; interpret, explain, enforce, clarify, counsel and advocate courses of action; interpret the position of the State of Colorado on specific terms, nullify unacceptable terms, propose alternative terms and/or write amendments; develop and manage effective relationships with suppliers and internal departments; resolve departmental, vendor, receiving, and accounts payable discrepancies; and perform other duties as assigned or required.

REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the assignment and two years of professional purchasing experience.  Certification by a professional purchasing organization such as the National Associate of Purchasing Managers or National Institute of Governmental Purchasing is highly desirable.


SUBSTITUTION: A combination of work experience in the occupational field or specialized subject area of the work assigned to the job, which provided the same kind, amount and level of knowledge acquired in the required education, may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the bachelor's degree.
