So who is this guy.... Mather.....

Why should you listen to me when it comes to Colorado's Brewpubs?? Heck I don't know, I just wrote this page for fun, because I thought my experiences would be useful to others. Seriously, all of the above is true, but also I thought you'd want to know a bit about me just so you wouldn't think I'm just another quack that doesn't know what he's talking about. So here's just a bit about me (beer-wise). You might disagree with my opinions (that's just fine), but this way you can disagree with someone that isn't just another quack.

I have been to over 200 different breweries and brewpubs (at least) in 4 countries. I have been to virtually ALL of Colorado's brewpubs in the years that they have been legal, most more than once. I have been to the Great American Beer Festival here in Denver for each of the last 17 years (volunteer for the last 10, the last 7 as a member of the GABF Judging staff as a steward and table captain). I have been a homebrewer since 1986 and am a member of 2 local homebrew clubs. I also have done some beer judging at some local competitions including the first round of the AHA Nationals here in Denver the last 2 years (that they were here) and I have written a column or two in one of the regional "brewspapers". My favorite beers are on the English Ale side of the beer world and as a result, I have made it over to the UK to sample first hand many of their best (including Theakston's and Samuel Smith's from the brewery taps). Despite this, I don't consider myself bigoted in any way toward any style. I have tasted as many different brews as I have been able to get my hands on from all over the world. Beers from Kenya, Thailand, Brazil, Italy, Greece, Philippines, as well as those well known places for beer, the UK, Ireland, and Germany among others. As a result, I have developed quite a diverse palate. My favorite styles are more on the IPA, Brown and Stout end of the spectrum, but I like good beers of almost any style (read except budmilloors) but I appreciate and am quite happy to drink a well made beer of just about any style (although they might not be my favorites).
