Game 3 vs. Typhoons
Game 3: 9/17/04 vs. Wilmington Typhoon
The Colonials headed down to Westchester, PA to face off in the Silversticks Qualifier Tournament and were put in what basically may have been the toughest division there. Their first test would be against the Wilmington Typhoon, the team that brought home first place in the tourney last year. This weekend wasn't going to be easy, especially since due to the early game/school conflicts they would be missing 3 forwards and 2 defensemen. All of that aside, they played on and started out strong as the "3 Stooges" line starts out the season hot. Brian Dixon and Matt Fullam set up Steve Genualdi for the first of the game and that got things rolling. Things were looking up as Jay Sogliuzzo fired one from the blue line on a 1 on 1 that somehow found its way through the goalie to make it 2-0. The Typhoon kept working hard however and fought back to score a goal and cut the lead in half. The Colonials would pull ahead though with their 3rd of the game on a goal by Brian Dixon, assisted by Mike "Primetime" Lundberg. It looked like it was all wrapped up but with all those missing players they began to get tired and Wilmington never quit. They proceeded to score 2 goals in the last 5 minutes to tie it back up at 3 and that's how the first game of the tournament would end.
Genualdi (Fullam, Dixon)
Sogliuzzo (unassisted)
Dixon (Lundberg)
Eric Visnovsky: 22 saves (3 goals allowed)
