Game 35 vs. Red Bank Generals
Game 35: 1/02/05 vs. Red Bank Generals (T 3-3)

After having the better part of almost two weeks off the Colonials traveled to the beautiful Red Bank Armory for a non-league rematch with the Generals. These two teams tied last time as they were very evenly matched and today would be more of the same. The Colonials looked well-rested and came out on fire. Eric Visnovsky, sporting brand new pads, looked very sharp in the opening period making many quality stops to keep his team in it. The Colonials would respond as they carried the puck into the zone on a 3 on 2. Buzz Sobieski gave a pass over to Steve Genualdi who put a shot on goal. The rebound kicked out in front of the net and Matt Fullam pounced on it for the first goal of the game. The Colonials would then get called for some penalties and in typical fashion found themselves shorthanded again. The Generals put in two power play goals and the tables turned quickly. They looked like they were going to try and extend their lead as they tried to go D to D in the zone but the pass was picked off by Matt Fullam and he was off to the races on a breakaway. No one was catching him and he froze the goalie with a nice fake and carried the puck across and backhanded it upstairs for a goal scorer's goal. The game was knotted up after two. The Generals would start the final frame strong as they worked the puck behind the net and one timed a pass home right in the crease to give them the lead. To make matters worse the officiating began to get a bit one-sided and the Colonials would be in the box again for some tough calls. They were down 5 on 3 but refused to lose this game. Team captain Mike Formichella found a rare opening down two men and carried the puck into the zone. He went 1 on 1 with the D and backhanded a shot on goal that the goalie stopped but left the puck right in front of him. Formichella picked up his own rebound and slid it five-hole for the game tying goal. It would end there in a tie 3-3 as these two teams have played 6 periods of hockey and decided nothing. It was a good warmup game as the Colonials get back into league play next Saturday against the Devils.
