Game 26 vs. Bethlehem Eagles
Game 26: 11/26/04 vs. Bethlehem Eagles (W 5-4)
The Colonials played again that same day against the Bethlehem NY Eagles. Looking to make it two in a row, they came out on fire. Friday night hockey at Chenango Ice Rink saw a great game, especially since the Eagles played up to the highest level they seemed to have. The Colonials would actually surrender the first goal early on a breakaway but would fight right back with a power play goal from the point by defenseman Jordan Tucci. They would fire another one in on the next shift with a wraparound goal from Brian Dixon, both goals assisted by Justin Sobieski. The Colonials would pull ahead with a beautiful goal from Anthony Matarazzo as he deked out the defenseman and carried it around the goaltender and fired it in the back of the net. It fired up the bench but the Eagles would pull close with a goal of their own to make the score 3-2. It was a back and forth game as Matarazzo would carry the puck in the zone again. The Eagles couldn't stop him as he set up Mike Postorino in front of the net for a one timer that lit the lamp. The Colonials seemed to have full control of the game until a few quirky goals would happen to find their way into the net. The first one goaltender Geoff Durham thought he had under his glove but would squeak out and put in by an Eagle crashing the net and the second one along the ice that just seemed to catch Durham off guard. The score was suddenly tied 4-4 as the Eagles just wouldn't go away. To make matters worse the Colonials had the penalty bug all weekend and found themselves shorthanded. That wouldn't stop Matt Daugherty however as he kept the pressure on the Eagles even though he was down a man. Matarazzo sprung him out of the zone with a pass and he was off to the races. He came in 1 on 1 with the defenseman and fired a puck over the goaltender's glove for the go ahead goal and what would eventually be the game winner. The Colonials were 2 for 2 on Friday and got ready to face the host team the next day.
