Game 24 vs. Jr. Phantoms
Game 24: 11/21/04 vs. Jr. Phantoms (L 6-2)
It has been quite a roller coaster season for the Colonials this year and this weekend proved more of the same. After taking a convincing victory the night before against the Flames the Colonials took a step back Sunday against the Jr. Phantoms. For 2 periods the game remained close. After the Phantoms scored through a screen shot first the Colonials fired back with a goal of their own from Justin Sobieski that went off the goalie's blocker and over him. It remained 1-1 until the very end of the second period when the game was 4 on 4 but the Phantoms had 5 guys on the ice and scored within the last minute of the period. The coaching staff and the bench went crazy knowing that the goal shouldn't count. The referees just happen to miss it however and the goal would stand. From there on out the officiating seemed a bit one-sided and the Colonials couldn't seem to fight back on the penalty kill. The Phantoms would continue to pull ahead as the Colonials seemed discouraged with all of the tough breaks and calls against them and the Pennsauken team would begin to run it up. Mikey Lundberg would add a goal at the end of the game but by then it was too late. The score ended 6-2. The Colonials fall to 6-2-2 in the league this year. They travel up to Binghamton, NY for a Thanksgiving tournament next weekend. Check the Team News and Schedule page for the tournament schedule.
