Game 22 vs. Ice House Avalanche
Game 22: 11/14/04 vs. Ice House Avalanche (T 1-1)
The Avalanche hosted the Colonials in a league game Sunday afternoon in a matchup of two teams tied for 3rd place at the top of the league. The last time these two teams played was at the Silver Sticks Tournament and it ended in a 2-2 tie. Today would be more of the same. These two teams know each other well and if you were at the game you saw a good one. Both teams came out strong and started by feeling each other out going back and forth until the Avalanche scored first on a hard slap shot from the circles that went off of Geoff Durham's glove and in. The Colonials would fire right back however as they set up in the offensive zone and Mikey Lundberg passed the puck to the point and Ryan Cassidy fired a puck on goal that seemed to have eyes. It found its way through a few bodies and into the net to tie the game. That would be all each goalie needed as they would put on a goaltending clinic from there on out. The Colonials fired 37 shots on goal but none seemed to find the back of the net and Durham would bail his team out a few teams with breakaway and glove saves. Both teams had their chances but couldn't capitalize and the game would end in a 1-1 tie. So after 2 games and 90 minutes of hockey these two teams still haven't decided anything. The Colonials move to 5-1-2 in the league and 10-7-5 overall. Next weekend is 2 more league games, the first at Mennen against the Flames and the second at Pennsaucken against the Jr. Phantoms. Note: This was Ryan Cassidy's second game-tying goal against the Avalanche this year.
Cassidy (Lundberg)
Geoff Durham: 21 saves (1 goal allowed)
