Game 20 vs. NJ Rockets
Game 20: 11/7/04 vs. NJ Rockets Bantam Minor AAA (T 2-2)
In a game where both teams knew each other extremely well the Colonials hosted the Rockets AAA Minor team at Mennen Sunday afternoon. The game turned out to be extremely fast and high-paced and the two teams really put on a show. The intensity was high and the crowd was getting into it. The Rockets came out flying and the Colonials came out hitting and both teams were really moving up and down the ice. The Rockets scored first on a breakaway goal by Willy Irving but the Colonials struck back as Brian Dixon fired it in from the blue line. Rockets goaltender Steve Messina made the save but gave up a big rebound and Dixon pounced all over it, dragged it across the net and lifted it over the goalie to tie the game. Colonials goalie Eric Visnovsky made some tough saves in front of his own net to keep the game close and his team would cash in on the oppurtunities as Jordan Tucci took a shot from the point and Steve Genualdi fired home the rebound to give his team the lead. It was an extremely fast-moving game and both teams were giving it their all. The Colonials took a 2-1 lead into the third period but it would be all for naught as they would catch an unlucky break. Rockets forward Tim Ammendola brought the puck in down the right side and threw it in front of the net. It bounced off of Gio Marinelli's skate and a few others at that and bounced in to tie the game. The game would end that way as both teams walked off the ice knowing they had just experienced a great even game. The Colonials have another non-league rematch against the Hudson Valley Polar Bears next Saturday and then return to league play against the Avalanche Sunday afternoon.
Dixon (unassisted)
