Game 16 vs. Devils
Game 16: 10/24/04 vs. NJ Devils (W 5-2)
The Colonials offense is just pouring shots on their opponents, their defense is playing tough and today the Devils found out both of that the hard way. The home team put on a record high 61 shots on goal today as Anthony White had to stand on his head for the Devils, just trying his best to keep his team in it, making 56 saves in the loss. The Devils would actually catch the Colonials sleeping and score the first goal as Eric Visnovsky had a nasty screen in front of him and couldn't see much that eventually resulted in a goal for Dan Sullivan of the Devils. The Colonials quickly responded however with another goal from the point by defenseman Jordan Tucci, with his third in as many games. Buzz Sobieski would then find Anthony Matarazzo in the slot and he buried it for the second goal of the game. Another goal from the defense by James Bellush would put the Colonials up 3-1 and now they were rolling. The Devils' big gun Adrian Jordan would respond with a goal of his own on a rebound shot in front of the net to cut it back to 3-2. The Colonials just shook it off and Corey DeFranco put a shot in off of a Dave Magnollay rebound to make it 4-2. Another goal from Bellush would give them the insurance they needed, the defense scoring 3 of the goals with 2 assists from Ryan Cassidy. The score was alot closer than the actual game was and the Colonials would take. For the second straight day in a row however the Colonials would be penalized late with a game misconduct. DeFranco came across the middle and put a pretty heavy hit on Joseph Drew of the Devils after the two had gone at it the whole shift. Drew went down hard and DeFranco was tossed from the game in what was mildly contraversial. He and Drew Perry (who served the first game of his suspension for fighting today) will both be inactive for the next game. The Colonials, however would improve to 8-6-2 on the year and 3-1 overall in the league.
