Game 14 vs. Tri-State Selects
Game 14: 10/17/04 vs. Tri-State Selects AAA Major (L 5-3)
The Colonials skated into Warwick, PA for a Sunday morning game with another AAA Major team, knowing that no matter what the outcome they would come off learning something from it. It was another tough one where they just could not hang on to a lead. They jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with goals from Matt Daugherty on a 2 on 1 and Jordan Tucci with a nice shot from the point on a power play. The Selects would then score the next 3 goals as the Colonials would let down. It would be very similar to the game the night before against Brick as Brian Dixon would again tie the game off a tip on a shot from defenseman James Bellush. It was a tight 3-3 game all the way until the final 4 minutes of the game where the Selects pushed through and scored on a breakaway and a 2 on 1 and that would be it. For the third time this year the Colonials lost to a AAA team 5-3. They came so close in this one but just the fact that they can come close against a Select AAA team proves they are just that close to putting it all together. They resume league play next weekend with games against the Bandits on the road and the Devils at home.
