Game 13 vs. Brick
Game 13: 10/16/04 vs. Brick (L 5-4)

In what turned out to be a wild and exciting game, the Colonials lost their first league game of the season to a tough southern Brick team 5-4. The Colonials struck first blood with a goal from Brian Dixon but it was quickly washed away as Brick floated one in that went off of goaltender Eric Visnovsky's glove and in. The Colonials fought right back though as they created pressure in front of the net. Mike Formichella put a shot on goal and Corey DeFranco picked up the rebound and put it home. The Colonials were up 2-1 but just could not hold the lead again as Brick put on a similar shot from the point and their captain picked up the rebound and skated in front of the net uncontested and scored. The game was going back and forth and the referees were letting everything go as they only called one penalty the entire game. Brick would open up the final period with a goal off of a scrum in front of the net but the Colonials would respond with another goal from Dixon. Brick would pull ahead with another goal after the Colonials couldn't clear the zone and then would pull ahead by scoring a questionable 5th goal. Brick transitioned quickly out of the zone and came in on a partial breakaway. As the forward tried to cut back in he was contested by the defenseman and ended up sliding on the ice into Visnovsky and in the meantime the net was knocked off of its mourings but the puck found its way past the line. Whether it was off before the puck went it may never be known but it was questionable and it put Brick up 5-3. The Colonials would not go quietly however and created heavy pressure in the zone. Justin Sobieski found Formichella at the point and he fired a puck in to cut the lead to 1. It would end 5-4 however as the Colonials could not set up with the goalie pulled for the extra man.
