| The Heritage Musick and Daunce Society has been entertaining audiences since 1974, when the Band of Musick was formed. The Revolutionary War organization sponsors four groups: Colonel Webb's 3rd Connecticut Band of Musick, Heritage Dauncers, George Washington's Musick, and the Recorder Consort. Colonel Webb's 3rd Connecticut Band of Musick This five to eight piece band of wind instruments plays military, concert and dance music, using oboes, clarinets, French horns and bassoons. Members are handsomely attired "officers" in red trimmed yellow-gold uniforms that were captured from the British. This officers band plays an entertaining repertoire of 18th century military, dance and dinner music for re-enactments, meetings, weddings and other events. Heritage Dauncers Elegant and colorfully outfitted ladies and gentlemen perform authentic dances to period music. The Heritage Dauncers demonstrate graceful minuets, lively country dances and energetic cotillions. They love to invite their audience to join in the fun. This group gives everyone the chance to learn to dance like George and Martha Washington, or Felicity from the American Girl collection. George Washington's Musick Lois Jones presents a smaller scale review of the Revolutionary War Era as a period lady, discussing 18th century life and demonstrating music and dance at home and in the military. She discusses colonial life and clothing, and teachs the audience to dance the graceful minuet. This is the ideal program for classroom, small meeting or organization. Recorder Consort The Recorder Consort invites you to "Pastyme with good companye" and go back to Elizabethan England for 13th-20th century recorder music. A full range of recorders and small percussion instruments are used for music of the times, plus a brief commentary is offered on the instruments -- perfect for schools or club meetings, and as dinner party entertainment. |
