The Stevens ball finial found atop many a Scottish railway Signal post was a hollow metal casting.The model we produce has the same shape as the real one,however due to the small size of the finished model it has been necessary to cast the ball in the solid.With a little care when painting it is possible to give the impression (at least from a few feet) of the ball being
hollow,and when it comes down to it this is what modelling is all about
