G O D S E N D
Rated: PG-13- For Violence Including Frightening Images, a Scene of Sexuality and Some Thematic Material
You cant just open Pandoras box, and expect to close it again!

The good thing about Godsend is that it is somewhat psychological.  The bad thing is that the psychological aspects are canceled out.  I guess you could just call it psycho.  I felt that the film was well paced and rather easy to follow (which is a huge plus when it comes to teens).  They basically cut the chase.
I tried to watch the film and figure out if there would be any circumstantial evidence of research in the area of stem cell research to justify the claims and actions that take place.  However, through a huge barrage of lame clichs that I admit were hard to stomach, I held on to my chair to make sure I made it through the rest of the film.
Its been five years since director Nick Hamm has made a film, and I think hes forgot the visual linguistics of it.  This story may have sounded great on paper, but with something this preposterous, it is up to the director to make sure the audience is buying in to what is going on.  I truly wasnt.
The biggest problem here was an infuriating script.  It was written by Mark Bomback, who was experimenting with modern-day controversies.  I think he wanted this to be compelling and original, but the justification was nowhere in sight.  Its an interesting concept: the thought of bringing your dead child back by making a genetic clone of his or her fetus, which is exactly what happens.  As I said, interesting, but extremely dull.
Looking inward on this film is virtually impossible, because there is no inside to it.  It is a showy type of movie with cheap scares, which turn out not to be all that scary.  The end is somewhat unneeded for what has already happened.  It couldve ended earlier and better, but it seems like these people wanted to drag it out longer and longer.
The true thing that saves Godsend from total death is its acting.  You can probably guess that one of my favorite actors is Robert DeNiro.  He is so natural at what he does that he makes everyone else look like fools.  But even the greatest actor sometimes has the worst dialogue.  I think DeNiro was so good way back when because thats when films were made with care. **
