I have only once recorded in a professional studio with a band, and it was SO expensive that I never want to do it again. That's why I decided to begin my own project studio in my bedroom: Studio Hoeve.
It is still small and not everything I have is top quality but is is enough to make a good sounding demo or single, audio files to prove this are on their way. (actually the're here!
www.studiohoeve.tk)
I am also looking for new bands to record in my studio, the cost is low (around 75 Euro's per day, depending on the number of planned recording sessions) the quality is ok (even if you are looking for a professional production) and the service is much more human than most studios.
If you are interested, or just want information on prices and packages available,
