College Football Enthusiasts,
It's that time of year again: the 7th annual Bowl Pick'em is here! Yes, after weeks of hype and excitement, the bowls have been announced, and this competition is ready to start up again. For those of you new to this competition, it is really easy to enter and provides a fantastic addition to the bowl season. Below, you'll find the entry form, and it's pretty simple: for each game, pick the winner. However, the BCS bowls (Rose, Sugar, Fiesta, Orange, National Championship) are a bit different. For those games, you need to also predict the score. Based on how accurate your prediction is, you will get more points. The scoring here is designed to emulate the reality of college football: any Bowl other than a BCS Bowl is fairly insignificant, making the BCS bowls the most weighted. It may seem unfair, but that's the harsh reality of college football. There's also a tie-breaker (which has never been used), and it's pretty easy to understand. The scoring system can be found on the final page of the entry form. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know, and I'll build an FAQ on this page.
The bowl entry form is due in my inbox ([email protected]) on December 20th, 2007 by 7:59PM cst, one minute before the first bowl game. Be forwarned: any entry turned in at 8:00PM cst will not be accepted. Get it in! Also, if you do not specify scores in the BCS Bowls, just winners, then I will assume your score prediction is 1-0 in favor of the team you picked. Finally, any incomplete tie-breaker will be valued at 1,000,000; that will not break a tie, guaranteed!
Results will be posted on this site shortly after the conclusion of the National Championship Game on January 7th, 2008. Updates will not be posted; if you want to know how you're doing, keep up with it on your time.
By the way, for anyone curious, Philip Moreshead won this competition last year with a whopping 40 points. For the record, about 234.5 points are available in this competition, and no one has ever gotten remotely close to just getting triple digits! (Check out ths scoring system, you'll understand!) Also, never in the history of this competition has anyone correctly predicted a BCS game... Lots of history is waiting to be written: will you be the one to do it? There's only one way to find out: enter.
