Xenophobia in my community...

By Gabriel Cruz Xenophobia in my community,
‘Close the borders they say....’
Who will take stand against such forces?

Racial intolerance dehumanizes ambitions,

of vast raza contributions,
but is our gente getting their cut?

If pro is good, and con is bad,

politicos got it right
when they put the con in congress,
Main stream Politicians saying ‘Vota Para Mi’ but
I see is a tio taco cagado
whose embrace I resist.
Maybe someday I can teach them about that word
they may have forgotten
progress.

Businesses with neon signs,

for my hermanos y hermanas
way down south to see,
Calling them,
invitation for jobs,
Los politicos build barriers and call it a border,
a line in the sand,
yet no fences, no walls,
can keep my raza, mi gente, away.

Mi Gente,

Hiding in shadows,
Wanting to be counted
like ghosts,
Doing the work
No one really sees
they pay their taxes,
they generate everything
Yet they ask or get nothing

“Everything for everyone,

And nothing for no one,
of the community
and for the community,”
Carlos, Nate both teach me
This is something, I do believe.
I feel though, others they don’t agree

People Saying, shouting

‘ENGLISH ONLY!’,
‘LONG LIVE PROP. 200’
These stab wounds, inflicted from ignorance;
creating scars, many, which I never seem to lose.
I feel so gouged,
When will my wounds heal?
Ellos no saban lo que me duele
Too many associates content
with the status quo,
do they know the pain I am in?
Chaos in effect is all I see.
