VI-BO, Limitada was founded in Bogota, Colombia by Arbelaez Octavio Villegas and Jaramillo Eduardo Botero on July 26, 1967 as a small electrical parts company with the objective of selling and distributing electrical materials as well as service contracts. Cd 106 and 154 insulators have been found in light sage green color with an olive green tint in very limited quantities embossed "VI-B0", probably an abbreviation for the two founder's names. They are believed to have been made for a one-time contract for Telecom as they have only been found on scattered isolated lines in the country.
In 1966 Porcelana Gamma a large porcelain insulator manufacturer (and related articles) headquartered in Medellin, Colombia came onto the scene and began full scale production of insulators. With technological partnership with Lapp insulator company, Gamma was able to improve the quality of its insulators and design styles suited for the large world-wide export market.
This large scale competition seems to have encouraged VI-BO Limitada to slip quietly away into obscurity, closing its doors shortly after its arrival onto the scene. By 1987 its 20 year commercial license expired and the company was dissolved.
