| Is There Anything To Do Here? | |||||||||||||||||
| ��������������� Every once and a while, the city of Hampton has events that bring the community together.� However, people in the community never know when, and where these events take place.� The main reason for this is because the events that take place usually come because someone decides to do it.� Seldom in Hampton is there an annual event that takes place which most of the community knows is going to happen.�� These events, to name a few, are Deen's day, the circus, and the carnival.� Sure these events sound like loads of fun; however, Most citizens choose to go participate in events in other surrounding cities.� The participate in such events as Afram Fest, and Harbor fest.� On the other hand, there is one event that takes place in Hampton that is on the rise, and it is going to become very popular very fast to the people in this community.� This event is called, The Allen Iverson Celebrity Summer Classic. | |||||||||||||||||
| ����������� The Allen Iverson Celebrity Summer Classic is a fun-filled weekend.� It has a lot to offer the youth in the community.� Not only does it provide fun for our youth, and a chance to meet some of their favorite stars and sports heroes, but it provides educational experiences, and lectures by some of the greatest names in sports to date.� The AICSC, has done a great job on setting up this weekend to show kids that their dreams can come true and that the people really care about them.� There is also athletic enrichment for the kids on that weekend.� The AICSC, is brought to the community by a foundation called the Allen Iverson Celebrity Summer Classic Foundation, or the AICSCF.� Allen Iverson mentor and long time friend Gary "Mo" Moore founded this foundation in 2000. Moe Partners up with Larry Robinson to create the foundation with offices in Hampton and Philadelphia.� We want to reach inner-city youth, and help them on their path to adult-hood (crossover promotions).� The AICSCF, is not only a foundation that plans this weekend, but they are also still very active in the community helping inner-city youth become successful.� The AICSCF, is a non-profit organization. | |||||||||||||||||
| ����������� The weekend is not just full of programs for the kids.� There are things for the adults to do in this weekend.� One thing to do is, play in the softball tournament at Briarfield Park.� Of course, you have to have a team.� This tournament is nationally renowned.� At this event you might get a chance to see some celebrities.� If you want to see more celebrities and maybe get a chance to meet them, then you might want to check out the celebrity softball game that goes on at War Memorial Stadium.� Here the Allen Iverson celebrity team takes on a team from our number one radio station in Virginia, 103 jams.� If you like to laugh, do not be surprised if Joe Clair, a comedian from BET Comic view, shows up again and commentates. On Friday, if you are lucky enough, and or have enough money, and willing to spend it on one evening, then you can go to the celebrity V.I.P. white linen affair.� Here, most all of the celebrities gather for a big social.� Allen Iverson shows up for this event. | |||||||||||||||||
| ����������� Allen Iverson is a guy that likes to end things with a big bang.� We know this because we see how he finishes games with forty points.� On Sunday, the final day of the AICSC, we join Allen and his celebrity friends in a party.� Most of the celebrities hang out in the V.I.P. section with a lot of pretty, hot, and tempting women. Some of the names that have attended the classic are Kevin Garnett, Magic Johnson, Kadeem Hardison, Teddy Riley, Bruce Smith, Aaron Brooks, Michael Vick, Larry Hughes, freeway, and Cormega.� The weekend is fun, and many people come.� It is a great thing that Allen Iverson does for his hometown, and it benefits the children. | |||||||||||||||||
