| Virginia is a land of great beauty. From the beautiful hills in Charlottesville to the great wonder of natural bridge, Virginia is one of a kind. Virginia also has many resources, some we are proud of and some that we are not so proud of, that are used throughout the world. In addition to this, there are many wonderful places to visit in Virginia. For the people that love science there is Natural Bridge, where people can go see the bridge built by natural organic rock movement. For the people that like history there is Colonial Williamsburg. There you learn about the settlers that came over to our land and began communities. Now for the city folk there is a wonderful place for you. Virginia Beach is the biggest city in Virginia, and as a constellation it has six cities surrounding it. This makes up Hampton roads, or the tidewater area. Living in these cities you get immune to the things that there are to do, and you need to get away sometimes. The courses at The Hamptons provide my get away spot, and the unique course it offers is challenging, and is beautiful. | |||||||||||||||||||
| In my 21 years of living in this area, I found that there are many places to go to have fun; however, when I want to be alone or have time to myself I like to go to the golf course. I do not go to just any golf course though. The golf course that I go to is The Hamptons. I am the only one in my immediate family that plays golf. That it is why I am usually alone when I go there. It is a very peaceful course. On a good day when there are not many people on the course you can sit in the cart and read a book, but the golf usually distracts you from doing that. | |||||||||||||||||||
| Playing golf relieves stress because its so relaxing and, it does not cost a lot of money to play, especially at The Hamptons. The Hamptons is one of the most uniquely designed golf courses in the area. It has three nine hole courses in one. These courses consist of The Links, The Woods, and the Lakes. These courses are unique in their own way, each of them having their own hazard that makes them that much more difficult than the other. I think that this entire course really helps train you in each area so that you can get better at playing the different types of hazards golf courses can throw at you. | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Links is my favorite course to play there. It has wide-open space to just hammer the ball and not have to worry about hitting a tree or it landing in the water. The fairways are wider than the other two courses but what characterizes it is the tall grass that it has between the fairways. This gives it a look like old Scotland where the game originated. It is a great beginners course to introduce young players or new players to the game. However, it has lots of sand traps that can get very tedious to get out of. | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Woods has just what the name tells you. It is in the woods basically. This course challenges you because there are many trees around that you must avoid or you can run into some trouble. The trees stand tall on the side of the fairways, and some overlook the hole with great beauty. The fairways are narrower than the Links and it is for the players that are at medium skill level. The air there is clean and, when the wind blows, it sounds like thousands of fans applauding your last shot. This course gives you more of a challenge than the Links. | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Lakes is the last course. It is a very hard course because there is a huge lake in the middle of it. Not only is there a lake in the middle of the course but there is also a lake in the middle of hole ten, eleven, thirteen, and sixteen. On hole sixteen you have a choice of putting the tee in a place where there is less water and it is an easier shot, or you can place your ball in a spot where you have to hit the ball over the water and land it perfectly on the green, unless you want your ball to take a bath and, at that point, you have to go fishing for it. On hole 12 there is a very challenging dogleg in it; the course turns to the right. On this course, you have to be very accurate. This is the most challenging course and, it is for the most skilled players. | |||||||||||||||||||
| So you can see how the courses train you in all the types of hazards that you can encounter in the game of golf. If you can go through all of the courses then you can become a very skilled golfer. These are the benefits that I get from going to the course and getting away from people that bother me or just taking a load off after work. | |||||||||||||||||||
