You are invited to virtually participate in Collaboration 2000. This was a weekend workshop for 30 artists/ designers / woodworkers held at the 
Sturt Workshops at Mittagong, NSW, Australia part of the Winifred West schools.
from June 30th to July 2nd —2000.

We have been inspired by the Emma Lake workshops in Canada to try and create an atmosphere where wood carvers, furniture makers, painters, sculptors and wood turners can spend a weekend working together and having fun. There will be no structured program - no lectures or demonstrations. You will find high quality woodworking machines plenty of space, painting facility and a group of creative people who are willing to make both adventurous and light-headed pieces.
Those attending include:
Lyonel Grant — Maori carver who has designed and made meeting houses, war canoes and contemporary sculpture — exhibited in Europe and North America
Henry Black — furniture maker and sculptor — work shown in the Smithsonian Museum Andrew Gittoes — wood turner — participant in The International Turning Exchange Vic Wood — wood turner — demonstrator and exhibitor in Europe and North America Liz Scobie — textile artist and painter — exhibited in North America
Neil Scobie — furniture maker and woodturner — exhibited in North America
The Sturt workshops are located within beautiful grounds near Mittagong in the Southern
Highlands 120 km south of Sydney. Accommodation is less than five minutes walk from
the workshops. Meals will be prepared on site and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided.
It is BYOG. 

We hope that participants will collaborate and explore new possibilities but there will be no obligation to perform or produce. This is an opportunity to share your skills and acquire new ones. A liberating feature of the weekend is that all work will be completed by the end of the weekend and sold to raise money to fund a similar workshop. If a second workshop hasn’t been organised within 2 years, the money will go to charity.
