Ex wife of Hank Summers, Jenny has raised Buffy on her own since she was a baby. She owns a gallery in town and is the S.H.S. computer teacher. Rupert Giles, husband of Jenny Calendar-Giles, father to Spike, and stepfather to Buffy. As the school principal, Giles keeps an eye on all the students and makes sure everything is safe. Kennedy Richards, hard core guitar player. She`s single, and is not interested in a relationship of any kind. When she hears of Buffy`s predicament, Kennedy immediately becomes friends with the ex cheerleader and is a part of Buffy`s new quest for fame. Kendra Marks, S.H.S. honor roll student and drum goddess. Best friends with Kennedy, Kendra doesn`t like outsiders and initially despises Buffy. Eventually the two become close but how will this affect Buffy`s relationship with her other friends? Harmony Kendall, backup singer and drama student. Harmony has known Buffy since Junior High, even though the two hated each other. Having to put their differences aside, will the two learn that hatred is your own personal enemy and that you have to learn to get along? *************************** Chapter 1: New Year A/N: Okay, I`m finally starting the fic. I had the first chapter written on paper but it just didn`t sound write. I`m taking this fic slowly, so I don`t rush it. "Another *fucking* school year." Cordelia grumbled as she stepped inside the halls of Sunnydale High. "Hey." Faith nodded as she met up with the other brunette. "Just cursing another school year?" "You know me too well." Cordelia sighed. "Thank God this is our last year, Faith. I don`t know about you, but I can`t even think of standing another week of the Nazi counselor called Snyder, let alone nine months." "Didn`t you hear?" Faith asked. "Uncle Giles canned his ass this morning. He insulted yet another male jock and tried to come on to Darla, which, even though that bitch deserves whatever she gets, resulted in his firing." "Thank God." Cordelia praised. "Speaking of, where`s Buffy? I haven`t seen her at all since June." "Oh, she`s probably off somewhere flirting. You know Buffy." Faith rolled her eyes. "So, how was your summer?" "Well, aside from doing cheer camp, it was great. Amy and I had to develop all these new cheers though. Which aren`t easy. Other than that, Doyle, Amy, Xander, and I practically spent it at the beach in L.A." "Cool." Faith smiled. "What about you?" Cordy inquired. "Did you and Spike...?" "No." Faith shook her head. "Although last night, Spike and I had this huge fight." "About?" "Angel O`Connor." Faith explained. "Spike...he just can`t let his hatred go. It makes me so angry." "Did you talk to him about it?" "Of course." Faith nodded. "But, you know how stubborn Spike can be. He hates Spike because of the whole Dru situation, and there`s really nothing I can do. God, Cor! It`s so frustrating." "Don`t worry, things will all work out." Cordelia assured her friend. "Besides, if they don`t, you have, what...eight months to find a date for Prom?" "Very funny." Faith slapped her playfully. They notice Buffy talking and laughing with Kennedy at her locker. Faith points to them and Cordelia walks proudly over to the trio. "Cordelia, hey." Buffy smiled at her best friend. "Buffy." Cordelia stares defiantly. "Aren`t you going to introduce us to your friend?" "Oh, yeah." Buffy nodded. "Kennedy, this is Cordelia Chase, and you know my cousin Faith. Guys, this is Kennedy Richards." "Kennedy, good to see you again." Faith smiled sweetly. "Hello." Cordelia forces a smile. "It`s nice to meet you." "Likewise, I`m sure." Kennedy turns to Buffy. "Look, Buff, I got to get to class. I`ll call you tonight and we`ll hook up?" "Yeah, sure." Buffy nods and turns to Cordelia after Kennedy leaves. "Being nice never hurt anyone, Cordelia. You could`ve said more than five words to her." "I`m sorry." Cordelia scoffed. "So, that`s why you quit cheerleading?" "Cordelia, I quit cheerleading because I was tired of doing something I outgrew a long time ago. Besides, you are captain now. I`m sure you`re thrilled to death." Buffy slammed her locker shut. "Look, I have to get to History. Faith, I`ll see you at lunch. Later." "Later, B". Faith nodded and muttered. "Well, what do you know? School`s officially started again." Chapter 2: Classes And Disruptions A/N: For all of you who want long chapters, I`m trying to make that possible. I tend to get writer`s block when that happens, so you have to decide. Short, but more chapters, or longer chapters and not as many updates. *-Indicates thoughts. "Hey, Amy." Buffy smiled as she slid into the seat behind the blonde. "Hi, Buffy." Amy greeted her. "I`m judging by the look on your face that you saw Cordelia and it didnt go over well." "Yeah." Buffy nodded. "I dont know why she`s complaining anyway. All she`s ever wanted is to be captain of the cheerleading squad. What`s the big deal?" "I don`t know." Amy shook her head. "You know Cordelia better than most people, Buffy. Better than me. She`ll get over it." "I hope so." Buffy sighed. "Anyway, enough about my problems, how was your summer?" "Great. I saw my father in New York." Amy told her. And the shops there...there`s no way to describe them." "Believe me, I know." Buffy chuckled. "Mom took me there when I was ten and I never wanted to leave. I fell in love with it. That`s where she met Giles, actually. Dont ask. It`s a long and boring story that I really don`t want to go into. The gist is I remember those shops and for townies such as us, its a big deal." "And for those of you who are just tuning in, Miss Buffy Summers was just telling us about her shallowness." A voice interrupted them. "Darla." Buffy snickered. "Don`t you have an elsewhere to be, like say, somebody`s pants?" "At least I can get some, Summers. What, your hand not working for you anymore?" Darla retorted. "You know..." Buffy stood up. "If my parents weren`t here right now, I`d slam my fist in your face." "I`d like to see you try." Darla laughed and walked away. "Stupid bitch." "Fucking whore." Buffy muttered. "I`m sorry, you were saying?" "Welcome to History 1010." The teacher announced. I`m your teacher, Rupert Giles, but you all can just call me Giles. Since your original teacher, Mr. Fremont will not be back this year, I will be teaching this class." "Here we go." Buffy muttered. "Fuck!" Angel O`Connor muttered as he walked into the classroom. "Glad you could join us, Mr. O`Connor." Giles acknowledged the late student. "Always my pleasure, sir." Angel joked. "You can take the seat behind Miss Summers." Giles ordered. "Right." Angel sighed and sat down. "As I was saying..." Giles continued. *Wow, this is boring.* Buffy thought. *First Giles gets roped into teaching my class, and now I get stuck with Angel O`Connor behind me all year. Better not tell Spike. It`ll make him schitzo once again. Then he`ll go all protect-my-baby-sister on me. I wonder what he`d say to that!* *I wonder what Xander`s doing right now.* Amy continued to take notes. *God, I`m tired. Guess that partying was just a little too much last night. I hope class ends soon.* *Stupid bitch!* Darla cursed silently. *She has no idea how lucky she is to be sitting next to Angel. My Angel. He loves me, I know he does. He`s just too stupid to figure it out yet. I`ll get him though, Hook, Line and Sinker.* *I cant believe I`m stuck here with these people. Better play it cool.* Angel reminded himself. *First Rupert gets stuck teaching this class, and then I have to sit behind his stepdaughter. Is there no justice in the world? I just can`t fucking win! God, I hate this class.* "And in conclusion..." Giles stated when the bell rang. "Don`t forget to read chapters 1-3 in your books. There will be a quiz on them next class." "A quiz, Giles?" Buffy said as she walked up to her father. "It`s the first day of school and already you`re giving out homework. Prepare to be the most hated teacher in this school. No one likes an overachiever." "Buffy, dont you have class?" Giles asked her. "Yes, as a matter of fact, I have Mom`s class next." Buffy smiled. "I`m sure she won`t mind if I`m late." "You do know that you are taking advantage of your parents, don`t you?" he asked. "Yes, and what other child wouldn`t?" Buffy asked. "Unless, of course, you`re Spike, who`s just always too early or way tardy." "Get to class, Buffy." Giles scolded. "Yes, sir!" Buffy mock saluted him. "I`ll see you at home later." "Right." Giles agreed and watched Buffy exit the classroom. "Hey, Little Bit." Spike chuckled as he saw Buffy in the hall. "Hi, Spike." Buffy smiled at her brother. "How`s your day been?" "Fine. A little boring, but fine." Spike explained. "So, I heard Papa Bear got roped into teaching your history class." "Yes, but you know Giles. He gets too excited from learning and then it`s all down hill. He`s not happy unless we`re jumping." Buffy rolled her eyes. "Anyway, I`m headed to the computer lab. I`ll see you at lunch?"
