Dirty Dancing: BA Style By: spoiledsquish A/N: I thought of this while I was watching the movie on satellite this weekend. I love the movie, and I thought it was so pure B/A that I had to jump on it! Pairings: B/A, C/D, and Giles/Jenny. Any other pairings will be specified at a later date. Rating: PG-13. If you saw the movie, you can read this. Timeline: 2003. A/N 2: There are some differences in the fic like Buffy is really smart and isn`t all prissy shopping girl, Giles is a doctor, Buffy and Cordelia are sisters, etc. Just roll with it, ok? Dedication: To everyone who's given encouragement for me to get better. You guys are the reason I wrote this. Chapter 1: Summer At Kellerman's "...Here`s a classic from the Four Seasons." ("Big Girls Don't Cry" by Four Seasons plays) "...That was the summer of 2003. When everybody called me Buffy, and it didn`t occur to me to mind." "That was a long time after President Kennedy was shot, after the Beatles came. When I couldn`t wait to join the Peace Corps, and I thought I`d never find a guy as great as my dad." "What is this stuff we`re listening to?" Cordelia asked. "Daddy, can we please listen to music by people who are alive?" "Bay City Rollers is music, sweetheart. They're still around." "I didn`t hear that." Cordelia scoffed and turned her headphones on. "That was the summer we went to Kellermans." "Oh my god! Look at that! Mom, I should have brought those Prada shoes. You said it was thinking too much!" Cordelia Giles exclaimed. "Well sweetheart, you brought ten pairs." Jenny Giles reminded her. "But the Prada shoes match that dress!" she whined. "This is not a tragedy." Rupert Giles told his eldest daughter. "A tragedy is three men trapped in a mine, or police dogs used in Birmingham." "Monks burning themselves in protest." Buffy agreed. "Butt out, Buffy." Cordelia snapped. "Rupert!" a voice called out. "Max!" "Well, Doc, after all these years, I finally got you on my mountain." "So, how`s the blood pressure, Max?" "I want you girls to know, if it were not for this man, I would be standing here dead. Doyle, get the bags!" "Right away sir, right away!" "I kept the best cabin for you and your girls." Buffy goes and helps Doyle unload the bags. "Hey, thanks a lot. You want a job here?" Buffy smiles. "There's a jazz class in the gazebo in the next few minutes. Greatest teacher. Used to be a Rockette." "It`s his first real vacation in ten years, Max. Take it easy." Jenny explained. "Three weeks here, Rupert, and it`ll feel like a year." Chapter 2: Jazz Class "...1,2,3,4, shake that booty a little more. 1,2,3,4, listen to the music." Darla McGovern yelled. "Sorry." Buffy told the older man as she stomped on his feet. "Buffy, come on. Get with it." Cordelia mumbled to her sister. "You're making me look really bad." "Then maybe you should go someplace else." Buffy reminded her. "Come on, guys. Follow me into a round robin." Darla shouted. "Ladies, inner circle. Oh, come on girls. God wouldn't have given you breasts if he didn't want you to shake 'em!" "Okay, ladies, when I say stop, you`re going to find the man of your dreams." Darla explained. "Stop...Now, remember he`s the boss on the dance floor (smiles at Rupert as they dance) if nowhere else." Buffy is stuck dancing with an old person. She smiles nervously. Chapter 3: The Entertainment Staff Buffy exited the cabin and looks back inside. "Mom, Dad, I`m going to the main hall. I`ll be back later." Buffy promises her parents. "Do you want to go, Cordelia?" Jenny asked her other daughter. "As if. I have more important things to do, like decide on what outfit to wear tomorrow when I flirt with the guys." Cordelia scoffed. Buffy rolls her eyes and continues on her journey. She walks slowly to the main hall, thinking about her two best friends, Willow and Xander, who are back home in Los Angeles. She walks across the terrace, wrapped up in her thoughts when she overhears Max talking to the staff. Curiousity gets the better of her and she stops to listen in. "...There are two kinds of help here. You waiters are all college kids, and I went to Harvard and Yale to hire you. And why did I do that? Why? I shouldn't have to remind you that this is a family place. You keep your fingers out of the water, hair out of the soup, and show the goddamn daughters a good time. All the daughters...even the dogs. Schlep `em out to the terrace, show them the stars, romance them any way you want." "Got that, guys?" a male voice calls as he walks through. Buffy's heart lept out of her chest as soon as she saw Mr. Tall, Dark, and Gorgeous. Who was that hunk of a man? "...The thing to do...Hey, hold it!" Max yelled. "Hold it. Well, if it isn`t the `entertainment` staff." The guy stops in his tracks and looks at Max through his sunglasses. "Listen, wise-ass, you`ve got your own rules. Dance with the daughters. Teach them to salsa, jazz, anything they pay for. That`s it! That`s where it ends. No funny business, no conversation, and keep your hands off!!" Max yelled and left. "It`s the same in all these places. Some ass in the woods maybe, but no converstion!" a dark haired man told him. "Watch it, Pryce!" Max warned. "Think you can keep that straight, Angelus? What you can and can`t lay your hands on?" one of the dark haired waiters asked. "You just put your pickle on everybody`s plate, college boy, and leave the hard stuff to me." Angel warned. "Ooh." Some of the other waiters laughed. "Some one got creamed." Chapter 4: Fox Trot A/N: * denotes thoughts. "Sit down, sit down. I`ll get you and Rupert some wine." Max told them. He holds out Jenny`s chair for her and she sits. "Thank you, Max." she nodded. Giles and the waiter hold out Buffy and Cordelia`s chairs. After his daughters are seated, Rupert Giles takes his own seat. "This is Dr. and Mrs. Giles, Buffy, Cordelia. This is your waiter, Riley Finn. Yale Medical School." Max introduces them. "Aha." Giles nods. "Nice to meet you." Jenny smiles. "Riley, these people are my special guests. Get them anything that they want. Enjoy." Max smiles and leaves. "Thanks, Max." Giles told him. Fast forward to the end of dinner. There's mounds of leftovers on the table. "Look at all these leftovers. Are they still starving people in Europe?" Jenny asked. "Try Iraq, Mom. With all the war and everything...Don`t you watch the news at all?" Buffy asked sarcastically. "Oh, right." Jenny nodded. "Riley, Buffy wants to sent her leftover dinner to Iraq, so, um, anything you don`t finish you wrap it up." Giles ordered. Riley smiles awkwardly at Buffy. "Max, our Buffy's going to change the world." Giles explained. "And what are you going to do, Missy?" "Oh, Cordy's going to decorate it." Buffy interrupted. "I think she already does." Riley cleared the table. Cordelia smiles shyly at him. "Doc, I want you to meet someone, My grandson, Spike. Goes to the Cornell School of Hotel Management." Max gleamed proudly. "Oh, Buffy`s starting college in the fall." "Oh great." Spike smiles and Buffy. She smiles back awkwardly. Pan to the dance floor. Buffy and Spike are dancing. Spike's trying to make conversation. "Are you going to major in English?" Spike asked. "No, Economics of underdeveloped countries. I`m gonna join the Peace Corps after college is over." Buffy explained. "After the final show, I`m going to France with some of the other bus boys, backpacking for five months." Flash to Tito, the band director/instructor, who's tapdancing. "This is our own Tito Suarez." The Announcer exclaimed. He and Max do a tapdancing segment. Everyone claps. Song ends. Flash to another part of the dance floor where Darla and Angel have just arrived and are clapping as well.
