Happy birthday Buffy

Summary: it’s Buffy’s 19th birthday. That’s all I’m going to say.

Author’s note: you will probably know that I really don’t like Riley. Riley lovers better not read this fix. The Yoko Factor happened.
Dawn al ready exist. This is during season 4.

It was a quiet night in Sunnydale. Buffy, Riley, Willow, Xander, Anja and Tara were hanging out in the Bronze. They were sitting around a table.
It was the night before Buffy’s birthday. Everybody was smiling. Except her.
She tried to concentrate on the conversations the gang had. But she just kept thinking about 2 years ago. 2 years ago on this same day, she
and Angel made love for the first time. It was the most wonderful and painful night of her life. Wonderful, because they made love. Painful,
because of Angelus. She remembered how gentle Angel was with her. She felt so loved when she fell a sleep in his arms. God, I love him so much.
Buffy thought miserably.
“Buffy? Buffy!” Riley said.
“Uh yeah?” Buffy asked.
“I asked if you were al right?” Riley asked.
“I’m fine.” Buffy said.
“Where were you?” Riley asked.
“Oh just thinking about all the presents I’m gonna get.” Buffy said with a fake smile.
Riley bought that.
“So what are you going to do tomorrow Buffy?” Tara asked.
“Oh nothing big. Just hanging out with my mom and Dawn. We are going to watch a chick flick.” Buffy said.
“Isn’t that boring?” Anja asked.
“Boring is good.” Buffy said.
“Good?” Riley asked,
“Yes, my birthdays weren’t that peaceful.” Buffy said.
“What happened?” Riley asked.
“Well, last year I lost all my powers. There is this test, when a Slayer becomes 18 years they drug her and she looses all her powers. She gets
trapped with a crazy vampire and she has to fight him. Giles drugged me and he hadn’t told me about the test. Until just before I fought the vamp.”
Buffy said.
“Wow, well you’re birthday couldn’t get any worse than that.” Riley said.
“Oh yes it can.” Xander said.
Riley looked at Buffy and saw her sad eyes.
“When I turned 17 Angel turned into Angelus.” Buffy said.
“Aha, Angel again.” Riley said.
Buffy ignored him. She really didn’t want to argue about Angel tonight.
Then a song started.
“Oh god I love this song!” Willow said.
“It sounds familiar to me.” Anja said.
“It’s the song from our Prom. It’s called Wild Horses.” Buffy said.
Willow looked at her. Buffy looked into Willow’s eyes. Willow understood why Buffy was looking so sad now.
“Wow, you guys had a prom. I never had a prom. They didn’t have that kind of stuff in Iowa.” Riley said.
Buffy looked down again.
After a few second her head jerked up. Willow saw a sparkle of hope in her eyes.
She looked to her right and smiled. She hadn’t realized it but there were tears in her eyes. She saw her beloved Angel standing in the shadow.
Riley looked strange at Buffy.
“Buffy? What’s wrong?” Riley asked.
Buffy didn’t answer. She just stood up and walked over to Angel.
The Gang looked at her and saw towards who she was walking.
“What is he doing here?” Riley asked angry.
“Beats me.” Xander asked.
“Because it’s her birthday.” Willow said.

She walked towards him. The tears were now flowing. She stood before him. They looked into each others eyes. They said nothing. Buffy started
to cry more. Angel took one step forward and hugged her. She threw her arms around Angel’s neck. They clung to each other.
Buffy broke the hug.
“Was the song your idea?” Buffy asked.
“It was. It’s our song.” Angel said.
Buffy smiled.
“Wanna dance?” Buffy asked.
Angel smiled at her. “I would love to.” He said and they walked to the dancing area.
The gang was looking at the couple with open mouths.
“What the hell is he doing?” Riley asked now really pissed.
Nobody answered him, they just looked at the couple.

Angel had his right arm around Buffy’s waist and held her right arm with his left hand. They held each other tight. Buffy laid her head on his chest.
She felt so at peace.
She looked into his eyes. “I love you.” Buffy said.
“I love you too.” Angel said back.
They had their heads touching against each other.
“I missed you.” Buffy said.
“I missed you too. Buffy I know that you lead your own life, but I can’t take it anymore. I want to be with you.” Angel said.
“Really?” Buffy asked.
“Yes, if you want me back.” Angel said not sure.
“Off course.” Buffy said smiling. Tears were running down her cheeks. But these were no tears of sadness. These were tears of happiness.
They started to kiss. The kiss grew passionate. They stopped because Buffy had to breath.
“Wow.” Buffy said a little breathless.
“Yeah.” Angel said with a smile on his face.

The gang looked at the couple. Willow saw how much they still loved each other. Xander also saw this. He finally understood that there love was
real and ever lasting.
Riley was fuming. They were dancing much to intimate for friends. He gasped when he saw them kissing. He couldn’t believe this. Didn’t she know
that he was sitting here? He wanted to stand up, but Willow held him back.
“Don’t.” Willow said.
“What?” Riley asked angry.
“Don’t. Let Buffy have a perfect birthday for once.” Willow said.
“I can’t accept this! She is kissing her ex. I’m her boyfriend!” Riley said angry.
“When you are looking at them, it looks like you’re the ex and Angel is the boyfriend.” Anja said.
Xander didn’t say anything to the comment of Anja.
Riley looked at Xander.
“Don’t you have to say something about that?” Riley asked.
“No, I’m sorry but I finally realize that they still love each other. Nobody is going to come between them.” Xander said.
“Well great is that. I get stabbed behind my back.” Riley said really angry now.
“Nobody is stabbing behind your back.” Willow said.
“Well she is!” Riley said pointing to Buffy.

“Do you want to get out of here?” Angel asked.
“Yes, I just have to say goodbye to… oh God!” Buffy said.
“What’s wrong?” Angel asked.
“Riley. I totally forgot about him. He is sitting at the table. I don’t dare to look at the table.” Buffy said.
Angel took a quick peak at the table.
“He looks very mad.” Angel said.
“Well there goes my perfect birthday.” Buffy said mopping.
“He, it isn’t over is it. We have tonight and tomorrow. We are going to make the best birthday ever.” Angel said.
Buffy smiled at him. “Thank you so much.” Buffy said. She kissed him.
They stopped kissing.
“Let’s go. I want to have this over with.” Buffy said.
Angel nodded.
They held hands and walked towards the table.
“Hi Angel.” Willow said.
“Hi.” Angel said back.
“Buffy?” Riley asked angry.
“I’m sorry.” Buffy said.
“You’re sorry? You’re sorry! He comes back. Tell you that he want you back. And you just run into his arms?” Riley said.
“I love him.” Buffy said.
“And you don’t love me?” Riley asked.
Buffy looked at him. Riley could see in her eyes what the answer was.
“Fine! But the next time he turns evil, don’t come running back to me.” Riley said and stormed out of the Bronze.
Buffy looked at her friends.
“Are you okay with Angel and me back together?” Buffy asked.
“We are.” Willow said.
Buffy looked at Xander.
“We are Buffy.” Xander said.
Buffy walked to Xander and hugged him.
“Thank you so much.” Buffy said.
“Your welcome.” Xander said back.
Buffy looked at Angel and smiled.
“Uh guys, I’m going. Angel promised me the best birthday ever.” Buffy said smiling.
“No sex!” Anja said.
“We know, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t do other stuff.” Buffy said smiling.
“Ugh, too much info.” Xander said.
“I will see you guys later.” Buffy said.
“Were you staying?” Willow asked.
“At the mansion.” Angel said.
“Why?” Buffy asked.
“Because we have to give you your presents.” Willow said smiling.
“Oh yeah, I forgot about those. Why don’t you come by around 4 o’clock?” Buffy said.
“Okay, we will be there.” Willow said.
“Okay, bye you guys.” Buffy said.
“Bye!” they all said.

Buffy and Angel were sitting in front of an open fire in the mansion.
“I have a present for you.” Angel said.
“You do?” Buffy asked.
Angel’s hand went into his pocket and took something from it.
It was a very little box.
Buffy opened it and gasped.
“Oh Angel, were did you get it?” Buffy said looking at her old Claddagh ring.
“I found it when I returned from hell.” Angel said.
“Can you put it on?” Buffy asked.
Angel took the ring and put it on her finger.
She took his hand and kissed his ring.
“How is your birthday so far?” Angel asked.
“Perfect.” Buffy said and kissed him.
They were going to make it perfect. They both disserved it.
