4046. George Richards "Rit" Christian

Before he married, Rit lived an adventurous life. At the age of
22, he joined a wagon train for the Gold Rush in California.
Rit and others from Randolph County, Missouri travelled by
horseback and served as scouts. By the time they reached
California, they found an epidemic of cholera and the gold
strikes about over. Deciding to return east, they took a boat
from San Francisco to Panama. After crossing the isthmus on
foot, they caught a boat to Cuba, then up the Mississippi River
to St. Louis, Missouri.

Rit served under Generals Price and Shelby in the Missouri
Cavalry during the War Between the States, and the post-war
Missouri Militia. He and his family migrated to Texas in 1880.
They lived for a year in Denton County, then settled on the west
fork of the Trinity River on a ranch in Jack County.

Thomas Coleman

Thomas died in the War of 1812, after being torured by Indians.
Before he died, he asked his good friend James Browning to marry
his wife and take care of her and his children.

2125. Nicholas Daniel Coleman

Nicholas graduated from Transylvania College in Lexington,
Kentucky and studied law. He was a member of the State House of
Representatives in 1824/25, elected as a Democrate to the 21st
Congress, serving from 1829 to 1831. When his termed expired,
he moved to Vicksburg where he practiced law and served as
postmaster from 1837 to 1850.

Lloyd moved to norther Alabama, then to Pototoc, Mississippi in
1837, and then to New Orleans.

2135. Thomas Burbage , Jr. Coleman

Thomas and Mary lived in Caroline Co. at ÒLandoraÓ, along the
Nortanna River. Thomas served in the House of Delegates of
Virginia from 1825-1827.
