4972. Georgia Rosetta Coleman

GeorgiaÕs wedding was part of a double ceremony. Her sister,
Mattie, married Thomas Griffin. A writeup appeared in the
Swainsboro, Georgia newspaper and a copy was sent to Arthur
Coleman by Mrs. Willard E. Jones. It follows:

Double Wedding

Married, at the residence of the brideÕs mother, on Sunday
evening last, the 20th inst, by Judge D. H. Smith, Mr. Jas. A.
McArthur to Miss Georgia R. Coleman, and Mr. Thomas J. Griffin
to Miss Mattie L. Coleman. All the high contracting parties are
residents of Swainsboro except Mr. McArthur, whose home is at
McVille, in Montgomery County. He had only been among us a few
months, long enough, however, to make many warm friends by his
integrity, his gentlemanly manners, and his courteous and
friendly bearing toward all, and to win the affections of one
our most excellent young ladies. Mr. Griffin is a young
gentleman possessing many excellent traits of character, and is
honest, energetic, and agreeable. The brides are young ladies
of refinement and culture, and are calculated to grace any
position in life. We congratulate the young gentlemen heatily
on winning two such domestice treasures, and wish them a long,
happy and prosperous future.
