Rifts

    The Rifts setting is pretty bleak as RPG's go. It is set in the post Apocalyptic Future earth, A Time in earths future a great cataclysm has re-opened the paths of magic to earth, but in such a violent way that rifts or portals to other dimensions have tore through reality spilling forth strange races and creatures onto earth, humanity is held up in several pockets of hope but the majority of the world has regressed into wilderness filled with strange and dangerous creatures. the system is vast and has more supplements than any system I've ever seen before. Some of the mechanics can get lofty ( especially in combat) but overall the variety and flexibility of the system lend to a good playing system. I highly recommend finding an experienced GM for this game as the rules can be difficult to decipher without a good deal of experience. ( as with most palladium systems)
