COLDPLAY - A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD / UK DISCOGRAPHY

by Ramzy

Coldplay are.

Guy Berryman – bass

Jon Buckland – guitar

Will Champion – drums

Chris Martin – vocals, piano

Coldplay official website.

Throughout, I’ve only included (legal) downloads if the tracks in question are not listed in the discography anywhere else, as it seemed pointless to go back and augment the entire back catalogue with a load of mp3s that didn’t have any specifics anyway.

This discography is still very much a work-in-progress and any corrections or additions are always welcome.

Thanks in particular to.

[initially intended as a demo for record companies, but the band were so pleased with the results that it was decided it should be released commercially as an EP.  The money was raised for the manufacture of 500 copies, only around 50 of which made it to the shops as the rest were given out to record companies and friends.]

[I think the matrix numbers are the only way to tell these two issues apart; I believe them to be otherwise identical]

[a one-off single for Fierce Panda after the head of the label, Simon Williams, was impressed by their set at the Manchester music festival In The City.  The single received some good reviews and brought them to the attention of Parlophone, who signed them in 1999.]

[a favourite to be a single in early summer 2000, the mixing of this track left the band extremely tight deadlines to finish the album so it would be ready for release soon after the single, which everyone suspected was a hit.  However, the album and mix were completed in time and the single disappointed no-one, going top 5 in the UK and paving the way for the success of Parachutes.]

[oddly for a supposedly ‘hidden’ track, ‘Till Kingdom Come’ is indexed separately, as track 13; however, there is still half a minute’s silence at the end of ‘Twisted Logic’.  The silence doesn’t feature on the vinyl at all, despite ‘Till Kingdom Come’ being cut as a totally separate track.  The song was written for Johnny Cash to sing but he died before he could record it, so the version here is probably more or less a demo.]
