Philanthropy

For more than 50 years, Kappa has supported various philanthropies through fundraising and hands-on-volunteer work.  Today, the fraternity continues this tradition by supporting RIF, Reading is Fundamental, the oldest and largest nonprofit children's and family literacy organization in the United States.  RIF is built upon a national network of dedicated volunteers who are committed to both children and literacy.  The Columbia alumnae group will work with our local RIF chapters to help motivate kids to read by organizing book events and conducting storytelling sessions.

We will also support the Greater Columbia Literacy Council.  Books of all types, including dictionaries and reference guides, notepads, pencils, bookstore gift cards and stationary can be donated.  We will also accept financial donations.  The books and materials will be used by learning readers and their tutors to build reading and writing skills.  With your help, we'll advance the gift of reading in our community.
