Colin & Robyns XMAS NEWSLETTER - 2003
Well here we are with Xmas upon us once more and it is time to send out our newsletters. Robyn and I have, as most of you already know, sold up in Perth and have so far travelled across the Nullabor once again and have landed in Foster with Robs mum Gwen for a break before we head up the coast for Xmas with mum and dad and the girls. We have our ute going quite well now with the bigger motor and extra leaf in the rear springs. The 14 foot pop-top tows well and weve even managed to overtake a few trucks and other vans on the way. As you can see we are fairly self contained and can pull up anywhere for the night. With a gas stove and fridge and a generator for the lights and fridge and a second battery for the Waeco fridge/freezer in the ute we have no trouble feeding ourselves and the dogs. We also carry extra fuel and water for our roadside stops. After 5 years in Perth we decided we preferred to be nearer to our families, both of which are spread mostly along the East Coast. We agreed wed like to be somewhere in the middle of them all, as long as its warm. To that end we are looking at somewhere North of Toowoomba that will be warm most of the year and not too humid. This will also place us in a handy position to see most of the family with a reasonably short drive either way. We are both enjoying good health and keeping fit with the dogs, Jess and Plugger who are travelling with us in their newly acquired mobile home on the back of the ute. They both love their new accommodation and unless we shut the doors we cant keep them out of it when they are supposed to be feeding or whatever. After Xmas with mum & dad on the Central Coast we will be back to Foster with Gwen & some time with Trev & Kath & family, (& Ive got some jobs to help out with), and also Ian & Glenda & family. Probably a couple of weeks altogether, then on to NSW via Yarrawonga, Dubbo and on to the Toowoomba area. Once at Toowoomba we will be checking out the best place for us to be. We want a small acreage (or is that hectareage) to breed the dogs and maybe take in a few boarders. We will send out a New Years Newsletter as soon as we know whats happening.

So far on the trip we have had some great fun and seen some great places. One of these was Wave Rock and the dogs had a good walk around while we checked it out and read up on the history of the area. As you can see, it took a lot of water and weather to erode that rock and its still happening. We also had time to look at the beaches around Esperance this trip. Wow!! What beautiful beaches. Pristine white sand and crystal blue water. The dogs (and we) loved it. The dogs enjoyed swimming in the surf and chasing their balls or sticks along the beach. The drive across the Nullabor was great and we had a few nights in roadside bays where we could let the dogs run as there was no-one else around. Plugger now comes when called, (usually), and is behaving much better since Ive been able to spend more time with him. The views across the Nullabor were fantastic and we took advantage of lots of roadside parking areas for lunches, overnight stops and photo shoots. Second day out of Perth we saw this sign at the Ravensthorpe Roadhouse and realized how far we had to go and I just had to get a piccy of it. Makes you aware of just how big this country really is. Still a long way to go! The Eyre Peninsula was nice and peaceful and we spent time at some beaut places before heading off to Murray Bridge and enjoyed the company of our good friends Wanda & Dave for a week. We then continued on and saw cousins Les & Anne at Lake Albert and Lynette and Geoff at South End for a night each. From there it was full steam to Foster and the Xmas break. Not much else for now, so we wish you all the best for Xmas and a happy and very healthy New Year. Lots of Love to all, Colin & Robyn
