Colonel Christopher Cain

    The Colonel has been a Mech Commander for more years than he likes to admit. He started his career as a Mechwarrior in the service of the Federated Commonwealth, where he rose to the rank of Captain. When his enlistment was up, Colonel Cain decided  he would like to try life as a Mercenary. His brother, Charles, had served with, and died in service to, the Kell Hounds. Christopher thought that he could create a unit patterned after them.
     Taking his family's entire fortune and all the C-bills he could borrow, the Colonel took his family's mechs to Outreach to hire a company's worth of mechwarriors. His first hire was Major Webb Baxter, an old friend of his brother's. Together they formed Cain's Ables, which eventually grew to a regimental sized unit and redesignated as Cain's Cavaliers The Cavs fought for all 5 Major Houses and always perfomed to the highest degree of professionalism and honor.
     In 3046 the Colonel was appointed Chairman of the Mercenary Review and Bonding Board, based on the Wolf's Dragoons planet of Outreach. The Mercenaries of  the Inner Sphere respected the Colonel's sense of honor and professionalism; and unanimously voted for his appointment to Chairman. This came as a surprise to the Colonel, as he felt he was just doing his job.
     In 3050, with the coming of the Clans, Colonel Cain, at the behest of his best friend and XO, Major Baxter, took a long term contract with St. Ives Compact. It was a mutually beneficial agreement between the mercenaries and the House; providing the planet Kowloon as a home for the Cavs, and an experienced regiment to St Ives. After almost 10 years of service, Kai Allard-Liao offered the Cavaliers a permanent place in the St Ives Compact Armed Forces; and to Colonel Cain, command of all the Compact's Mech units.
     In 3055, Major Baxter was taken as a bondsman by the Red Corsair, the infamous Clanner renegade, after  the devestating loss of  the SICAF's 1st Heavy Cavalry Battalion, on the planet of Kooken's Pleasure Pit. He was forced to be a advisor to the Corsair along with Hauptmann Nelson Giest. They were both rescuesed when a trap was set by the Kell Hounds on the planet of Arc Royal. The Red Corsair escaped the trap, but her forces were destroyed. She was later traced to and killed, but memories of being enslaved still haunt Major Baxter's dreams and he longs for the revenge he was deniened when Hauptmann Giest killed the Red Corsair.
     Now with the resumption of the Clan War and, the death of the Colonel's son at the hands of Clan Jade Wolf, Colonel Cain is taking war to the Clan Homeworlds.
