(1) Invalid Pension: from wounds received from a cannon blast when the regiment was flanking rebel lines at Fishers Hill, September 22, 1864.

(2) Widows pension filed after his death. Henry died May 20, 1913, in Middleport (Salisbury Township), Meigs County, Ohio, and is buried at Hill cemetery in Middleport. His widow, Mary E. Barnhart, daughter of Alexander Barnhart, received the widows pension until her death on October 17, 1923.

DECLARATION FOR INCREASE OF AN INVALID PENSION
State of Ohio County of Meigs
7th day of November 1889

Henry S. Dewees, aged 55, a resident of Middleport, County of Meigs, State of Ohio as a pensioner by certificate number and duly enrolled at the Columbus Ohio Pension Agency, at the rate of $4.00 per month by reason of disability incurred in the military service of the United States while serving as a private in Company "K" 11th Regt West Va. Infy, that his present physical condition is such that he believes himself entitled to an increased pension.

He further declares that he is disabled in the following manner, to wit: Injury of Left side of Head, left arm and shoulder for which he is now drawing pension.

Application is also hereby made for increase of pension on account of a new disability, to wit: at Parkersburg, in the State of West Virginia, on or about the [] of August, 1863, He says while his Company were camped near Parkersburg, West Virginia on the B&O RR. That one night he was detailed and sent under charge of John M. Lore, a sergeant of his company to arrest some women of ill fame, who were hanging around camp. He says they found some women up the Railroad on a platform, of the road, and near the Kanawha River. and the women refused to be arrested or go with them, unless they would get them a drink of water- That he was ordered by their sergeant to take a tin can the women had, and go down to the Kanawha River, a short distance from the railroad track, and get some water- He says that getting down off the platform, he fell severely injuring his back, that he fell some 12 feet or more. That he was in the line of duty at the time. And he claims Pension on disease of the back resulting from said injury received, as above stated.

that he appoints, with full power of substitution and revocation, Wm L. McMaster of Middleport, Ohio, his true and lawful attorney, to prosecute his claim.
