station from Parkersburg to Clarksburg, Wva. by railroad, 76 miles; July 6th
changed station from  Clarksburg to New Creek, WVa. by railroad, 126 miles;
July 14 changed station from New Creek to Hancock,Md.; marched 64 miles; Aug
8th changed station from Hancock. Md. to Sir Johns Run, WVa., 3 miles; Aug
18th changed station from Sir Johns Run toParkersburg, Wva. by railroad, 276
miles; Aug 21st changed station from Parkersburg to Ravenswood, WVa.;
marched 40 miles; arrived at Ravenswood 23rd inst; At Limestone Hill
detached Lt Poling with 40 men to scout the waters of  Sandy and report at
Ravenswood; distance marched 37 miles.
Sept/Oct 1863: STATION Ravenswood, WVa.-RECORD OF EVENTS: Sept 1/63 Lt
Poling and detachment report to Camp with 9 prisoners; same day Corpl
Gatchel and 11 men sent to Ripley to report to Capt King, distance 12miles;
Sept 3/63 Sergt  Jeffords and 8 men sent to guard road on Mill Creek with 8
days rations; Sept 7/63 Lt Riley and 18 men detached to scout on Sandy with
4 days rations; Sept 12/63 Lt Riley and 26 men sent to scout on Sandy with 3
days rations; Sept 16/63 Sergt Rardon ? and 9 men sent to scout with 2 days
rations; Sept 17/63 Lt Riley and 27 men sent to scout with 4 days rations,
accomplished nothing; Sept 26/63 Lt Poling and 28 men sent to report to Capt
King at Spencer, Roane County,WVa. with 10 days rations, distance traveled
35 miles; Oct 1/63 Lt Poling sent from Spencer, Roane County, Wva. by  Capt
King to scout on Steer Creek, Gilmer County, WVa., distance traveled 20
miles and killed 1 reb; Oct 17/63 Sergt Reed sent with 22 men to report to
Spencer, Roane County, WVa., distance traveled 35 miles; Oct 20th Sergt
Somerville and 10 men sent to head of Sandy to scout; Oct 24/63 Lt Poling
and 14 men sent to Spencer, Roane County, WVa to report to Capt King; Oct
26/63 Capt Williamson left camp with detachment of Company  "I" and "K"
,traveled 20 miles; camped on Turkey Fork, Sandy; next day came in contact
with the enemy on the divide between Reedy & Sandy; skirmished  an hour;
captured 1 Lt and 1 Priv and returned to camp next day without any
casualties.
Nov/Dec 1863: STATION - Ravenswood, WVa.-RECORD OF EVENTS: Dec 6th Lt Riley
and 19 men sent to Spencer with 15 days rations; Dec 13th Sergt Reed and 12
men sent to guard train with 5 days rations; Dec 14th Corpl Ridenour and 5
men sent to State of Ohio to search for Government property; Dec 15th Lt
Poling and 4 men sent to Burning Spring on business for Company with 4 days
rations; Dec 18th Sergt Reed and detachment return to camp; Dec 16th Corpl
Ridenour and men return to camp with 16 guns, 4 revolvers, 2 saddles; Dec
18th Lt Poling and men return to camp; Dec 20th Lt Riley and detachment
return to camp; Dec 25th received orders to be ready to move at a moments
notice; Dec 27th Jasen Mullenex received a furlough for 15 days; Dec 29th
James M. Reed received a fur-lough for 15 days.
Jan/Feb 1864: STATION Ravenswood, WVa.-RECORD OF EVENTS: Jany 16th Lt Poling
and 16 men sent to scout with 3 days rations; 18th Jan 1864 Lt Poling
returned to camp with detachment; 19th Jany 1 Sergt Gilpin and 8 men sent to
scout with 3 days rations; 21st Jany Sergt Gilpin returned to camp with 2
prisoners; 22nd Jany Sgt Reed sent to scout with 3 days rations; 24th Jany
Sgt Reed returned to camp, all quiet.
Mar/Apr 1864: STATION: Clifton, Kanawha County, WVa-RECORD OF EVENTS: Apr
1st changed station from Parkersburg, Wva. to Clarksburg, WVa.,distance by
rail 85 miles; 6th received orders to march to Beverly, Wva.; arrived there
on the 9th and received orders to march back to Clarksburg immediately;
arrived there on the 13th, distance 120 ? miles in all;  21st moved from
Clarksburg to Parkersburg, distance by rail 85miles;  23rd received orders
to move to Kanawha Valley; arrived at Camp Piatt on the 25th, distance by
river 170 miles; 29th received orders to march at 6 o'clock in the morning;
arrived at Clifton, WVa, distance 12miles.
May/Jun 1864: STATION: Camp Piatt, WVa.-RECORD OF EVENTS: 1st May commenced
march at Clifton, WVa through the counties of Fayette, Raleigh, Mercer,
Tazwell and Pulaski to a point on the Tenn & Va. Railroad; from there back
through the counties of Montgomery, Monroe and into Greenbrier, Va.,
distance 261 miles; Company was engaged in the battle at Cloyd Mountain,
Pulaski County,  May 9/64; engaged in battle on the 10th May at Ingle
Bridge; remained in camp near Lewisburg, Va to June 1/64; resumed march,
arrived at Staunton, Va. on the 8th of June; encamped 2 days; June 10th
resumed march to Lexington, Va.; encamped 2 days; resumed march to a point
near Lynchburg, Va.; 17th engaged in battle in the evening ?; engaged again
the 18th in battle; resumed march by the way of Liberty, Salem, New Castle,
Sweet Springs, White Sulphur Springs, Lewisburg and Meadow Bluffs; arrived
at Camp Piatt, Wva. June 29th/64, distance 450 miles.

COMPANY MUSTER-OUT ROLL of Capt Newton Polings (late Capt J.W. Williams)
Company "K", 11 Regiment of West Virginia Volunteers commanded by Col W.H.H.
King (late Col V.H. Bukey) called into service of the United States by the
President of the United States at Ravenswood, Wva. on the31 day of August
1862 to serve for the term of 3 years from the date of enrollment unless
sooner discharged; from the 31 day of August 1862 to the 17 day of June
1865. The Company was organized by Lt J.W. Williams at Ravenswood, WVa in
the month of August 1862. CERTIFICATE OF MUSTERINGOFFICER: I certify, on
Honor, That I have at Richmond, Va on the 17 day of June 1865, carefully
examined this Roll and, as far as practicable, caused the allowances,
stoppages and remarks to be justly and properly stated and mustered the
company for discharge; and it is hereby honorably discharged from the
