Springs March 18, 1862 for Parkersburg, Va.; arrived at said Parkersburg
March 19, 1862; Detachment of 2 commissioned officers and 46 enlisted
men
started March 29 for St. Mary's, Pleasants County, Va.; arrived
there on
same day; scouted Pleasants County and arrested a number of Secessionists
and disarmed all known Secessionist (by order No. 2 of Brigadier
General
Rosecrans); Returned back to Parkersburg according to said orders
on the
15th day of April 1862; Captain James W. Myers commanding detachment.
May and June 1862: STATION: Camp Spencer, Roane County, Va. - RECORD
OF
EVENTS: Left Parkersburg with detachment of 46 men on the 10th day
of May 62
at 10 A.M.; marched to Elizabeth and Burning Springs, Wirt County,
Va.; from
there to Big Bend and up the West Fork of Little Kanawha River,
Calhoun
County, Va. to Spencer, Roane County, Va. and scouted said county;
arrived
in Spencer May 13, 62; distance 65 miles; 3 days marching; Colonel
J.C.
Rathbone commanding detachment; changed station on Saturday, May
17, 62;
arrived at Spencer, Roane County, Va. May 23, 62; Lieutenant S.W.
Ross left
Camp Spencer with detachment of 20 men in direction of Big Bend
on the 4th
of June 62; had an engagement near said bend; resulted after a short
skirmish in wounding several rebels; no loss on our side; returned
to camp
June 10, 62 after a march of 80 miles; Captain J.W. Myers left on
the 7th
June with a detachment of 42 men and 2 Lieutenants of 11th and 6th
Regiments
of Virginia Volunteer Infantry in the direction of Big Bend, Calhoun
County,
Va.; Had an engagement with the rebels on the 10th day of June,
62 at 8 A.M.
killing 3 rebels and wounding 1 severely; no loss on our side; had
an
engagement the same day near the mouth of West Fork which resulted
after a
short skirmish in putting the rebels to flight; Number of rebels
in the
engagement about 75; returned to camp June 11, 62 after marching
by way of
Burning Springs a distance of 70 miles.
July and August 1862: STATION: Camp Spencer, Roane County, Va. -
RECORD OF
EVENTS: Captain James W. Myers left Camp Spencer July 1, 62 with
a
detachment of 17 men and marched in the direction of Big Bend, Calhoun
County, Va.; arrived at Big Bend on Little Kanawha River on July
2, 62; had
an engagement with the rebels; Captured Captain George Dorvens and
Captain
William Harris and Privates Ratliff and Rogers; returned to Camp
Spencer
with said prisoners by way of Burning Springs, Va. arrived at Camp
Spencer
July 3, 62; distance 60 miles.
September and October 1862: STATION: Camp Union, Parkersburg, Va.

OF EVENTS: Lieutenant Martin Park started towards Elizabeth, Wirt
County,
Va. from Spencer, Roane County, Va. on September 1, 1862 with a
detachment
of 20 men on a scout; Captain James W. Myers went with 30 enlisted
men to
Burning Springs, Wirt County, Va. on a scout on September 2nd, 62
at 4 o'
clock A.M.; received messenger about 3 o'clock on September 3rd,
62 to
return to Camp Spencer; went about 3 miles on the road back received
news of
the surrender of Spencer Roan County, Va. by Colonel Rathbone; retreated
to
Parkersburg with his and Lieutenant Parks detachment; was stationed
by order
of Lt. Colonel Frost at Parkersburg, Va.; went on a scout to Point
Pleasant
with 40 enlisted men in pursuit of Rebel Jenkins on September 9,
62 and
returned on September 15th, 62; distance 165 miles; lost in men
paroled at
Camp Spencer 28 enlisted men and 1, 2nd Lieutenant, 29 short Enfield
rifled
musket, 44 sabre bayonet, 72 shoulder straps, 41 belt and breast
plates, 31
cartridge boxes, 28 cap boxes, 81 gum blankets, 73 knapsacks. 94
haversacks,
89 canteens and straps, 39 gun slings, 3 non-commissioned officer
swords and
all camp accoutrements and most all of the soldiers clothes. Also
1 drum and
1 fife.
November and December 1862: STATION: Camp Spencer, Roane County,
Va. -
RECORD OF EVENTS: Captain J.W. Myers left Camp Union, Parkersburg,
Va. for
Spencer, Roane County on November 15th, 62 with his whole company
by order
of Lt. Colonel Frost; arrived at Camp Spencer, November 18, 62 in
good
order; on the 20th day of November, 62 Captain Myers left Camp Spencer
with
a detachment of 11 enlisted men up the West Fork in Calhoun County;
captured
8 prisoners and 8 guns; distance 32 miles; returned to camp 21 November,
62;
on the 22nd Captain J. W. Myers went with a detachment of 2 Lieutenants
and
13 enlisted men on a scout up the West Fork via Arnoldsburg, Calhoun
County
then up Frazers ? Creek where was found the camp of the rebels;
burnt all
their equipage but the rebels had fled; On November 26, 62, Captain
J. W.
Myers left Camp Spencer with 4 enlisted men as a guard with 10 rebel
prisoners for Wheeling, Va.; returned December 13th, 62; On December
23, 62
Captain J. W. Myers went on scout with 12 enlisted men up the West
Fork;
captured 2 of Captain Nutt's Cavalry Company of the S.C. and a prisoner
with
the name of Abraham Lowry, a member of Captain Roand's ? Cavalry
Company,
1st Virginia Regiment, U.S.A..

the 15th Captain Myers with a detachment of 50 men of Company "B",

Regiment and 50 men of Company "K", 11th Va. Regiment and 2 Lieutenants
went
on a scout through Ritchie County and Calhoun County to Burning
Springs,
Wirt County, Va.; had several engagements with the enemy resulting
in
killing 9 men of the enemy and wounding several severely and captured
several guns; returned to camp May 22nd after traveling a distance
of 130
miles; Captain Myers with a scout of 16 enlisted men left camp at
Burning
Springs on June 3rd; went into Roane County; met several rangers;
captured 1
horse from them; returned to camp June 7th; distance 80 miles; June
9th
Captain Myers took 38 men went on scout to Calhoun County; went
to Big Bend
on Little Kanawha River; from there to Roane County; met no enemy;
traveled
50 miles; returned to camp June 12th; June 13th, Lieutenant M. Park,

Sergeants and 24 men went on a scout to Calhoun County and the upper
part of
Wirt County; captured 4 horses and returned to camp June 17th, 63;

for
Clarksburg, Va. on N.W.R.R.; received order to return when at Cornwallis

returned to camp 6th September 63 after traveling about 100 miles;

18 Captain Myers with 1 Lieutenant and 2 Sergeants and 56 enlisted
men went
on a scout in Gilmer County; scouted through Calhoun County to Glenville,
Gilmer County; returned to camp on the 29th September; distance
150 miles;
Lieutenant M. Park with 25 enlisted men entered on a scout on October
5 up
the West Fork River, Calhoun County up to Glenville, Gilmer County;
returned
to camp 18 October 63; distance 200 miles; Lieutenant Samuel Ross
with 25
enlisted men went on a scout on 6 October 1863 through the upper
parts of
Wirt; from there to Glenville, Gilmer County; returned to camp on
14 October
after traveling a distance of 175 miles; Captain Myers started on
a scout in
search of some rebel cavalry; met the enemy and repulsed them.
November and December 1863: STATION: Burning Springs, W.Va. - RECORD
OF
EVENTS: The Company has been during the last 2 months on several
scouts
through the County of Calhoun and have taken 11 rebels and sent
them to
proper authorities to dispose of them. He also captured 7
rifled muskets
and 1 sharps rifled carbine. Also built quarters for the winter
out of logs
during the time mentioned.

called into service of the United States by the President at Burning
Springs, W.Va. on the 26th day of October 1861 to serve for a term
of 3
years from the date of enrollment unless sooner discharged; from
the 26th
day of October 1861 (when enrolled) to the 11th day of November
1864, when
discharged by reason of expiration of term of service. The
Company was
organized by Lt. Colonel Rathbone at Burning Springs in the month
of October
1861 and marched thus to Burning Springs...CERTIFICATE OF MUSTERING
OFFICER:
I certify, on honor, that I have at Newtown, Va. on this 11th day
of
November 1864 carefully examined this Roll, and, as far as practicable
caused the allowances, stoppages and remarks to be justly and properly
stated and mustered the Company for discharge from the service of
the United
