Our Producer+(tm)
concept recognizes the reality of being an inner city market by
allowing vendors to bring produce from neighboring farms, Amish
auctions and even produce terminals provided it does not
compete with local in-season products sold by producers. Every
vendor must grow, raise or make 50% or more of the products they
sell. A growing amount our produce comes from on-site urban farm
plots.
The market is owned and
operated by the East Cleveland Farmers Market Preservation Society,
ECFM for short. ECFM is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Therefore,
monetary gifts, as well as gifts of products and services, are
tax-deductible to the extent allowed by Internal Revenue Service laws.

The market is the home of East
Cleveland Grows, a community garden where you can raise your own fruits
and vegetables. Beginning in 2009 Urban farmers will raise
produce on the property for sale at the market.
The mission of the East Cleveland Farmers Market Preservation
Society includes preservation of our historic
building, revitalizing the Coit Road Farmers
Market, keeping a stable presence in an urban community and encouraging
further
re-development in our East Cleveland neighborhood. In doing so we
are providing a source of fresh produce to an inner city
community, supporting local
farmers and providing business opportunities for community
residents.
Strengths and advantages of the
Coit Road Farmers Market include
- 75-year history, third generation of farmers Market History
- riveted steel construction building
- site and buildings owned by East Cleveland Farmers Market
Preservation Society.
- location near the busy Noble/E 152 intersection in East Cleveland.
- accessible to surrounding communities of Bratenahl, Cleveland
Heights,
Euclid,
South Euclid, University Circle, Cleveland, etc
- unique among local
farmers markets for having a building for
year-round
operation
Producer+ is a trade marked concept of the ECFM that recognizes that
people need groceries all year round, that not every farmer can or
wants to be a retailer, and not all good food can be local.
Producers who are vendors at the market are encouraged to sell
neighbors and relatives products and produce from auctions and
wholesellers as long as those products do not compete with or under
price other vendors and local products.
