1. One of the children of my ggggrandfather Gideon Olmsted (1786-1837) was Daniel, born 1801. I have no further information on Daniel other than that he was party to an agreement amongst the heirs of his late father concerning a division of property. This agreement was dated Oct. 25, 1839 and it is signed by Daniel and the other heirs. At that time Daniel resided in the Twp. Of Hull, Province of Quebec as did several of his siblings. Does anyone have anything further on Daniel?
2. Johnson District Marriages (1801-1851) records the January 18,1841 marriage of John Murphy of Wolford and Maria Umstead of Montague. Witnesses were Reuben Umstead and Silas Warner. In those days recorders sometimes spelled the name Umstead instead of Olmstead/Olmsted. Is this a daughter of Richard Olmsted and Elizabeth Durkee of Montague? Reuben could be Maria’s brother and Silas Warner her brother-in-law.
3. Volume 5, Bathurst District Marriages for 1831-1852 records the marriage of Hester Ann Olmstead of Ross Twp. to James Rose of Westmeath on March 24, 1851. Witnesses were William Ross & Jonas Smith. On that same date and with the same witnesses, Ephraim Olmstead of Ross Twp. married Mary Ann Papa of Westmeath. I believe this Ephraim has been established as being the son of Ephraim Olmstead of Ross Twp. and his wife Esther Breckenridge. Is Hester Ann a daughter of these two and is there any further information on her and James Rose other than this marriage record?
4. An ON vital record of death for Jabez Dewey, who died at Smiths Falls January 1, 1926, states his mother’s maiden name was Netty Olmstead, born in Scotland. These people are of interest because Jabez was a son-in-law of Gideon Olmstead (1822-1894) and Gideon in turn was a grandson of Gideon mentioned in #1 above. Does anyone have information on Netty and where she fits in the Olmste(a)d family?
