This monument is located on the west side of Rt. 7
overlooking the Otter Creek valley. It is 3.1 miles north of the Maclure
Library.
"Caleb Houghton, b. Bolton, Ma. 1760, member of
Capt. Safford’s co., Major Allen's detach't stationed at the fort, killed by
Indians half a mile south July 15, 1780. His remains moved here Aug 1873.
