| Ammie Jacobs was born May 7, 1908 to the late John Jacobs and Alberta E. Jacobs, in Pender County, North Carolina. Mr. Jacobs married Themia Irene Simmons, March 9, 1934 and together shared seven healthy children; Dorla Dean Ammons, Ammie Gordon Jacobs, Jr., Shirley R. Carter, Sonja Tyler, Phyllis Gray Bryant, Gregory Dansiel Jacobs and Kent Norris Jacobs. He is a devoted member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where he was a deacon for many years. He is a very proud and devoted member of the Coharie Tribe and his Indian ancestry. He still attends POW WOWS throughout North Carolina today. | ||||||
