John Hamilton West Jr.- 4th Corp. Co.I- (Grove Hill Guard)
John enlisted 16 March 1862 by Capt. J. M. Hall at Grove Hill,
Alabama. He was captured 3 May 1863 at Fredericksburg, Va.
and paroled the following day, then sent to  Washington,  D.C.
On 10 May 1863 he was sent to City Point Va. along with 894
Confederate prisoners for exchange. Wounded 5 May 1864 at Spotsylyvania Court House. He appears on the morning report
dated 18 May 1864 at Jackson Hospital, Richmond Va. with a
minnie ball wound to the right leg.  On 5 July 1864 he was 
admitted to the General Hospital  Howard's  Grove, Richmond
Va. and furloughed 22 July 1864.  His signatur appears on his
final pay receipt.

John Thomas Jones - Private - Company C.
born 16 February 1840. John graduated from University of
Alabama Law School and set up his pratice in Carrolton
Alabama. In the summer of 1861 he left his practice and
joined the 5th Alabama Regiment. At the Battle of Gaines
Mill 27 June 1862 the 5th was ordered forward to fill the
gap. Private John Thomas Jones was found dead where he
fell and was buried there.
